*FEELER* mk3 Polo 1.6 GT

This is just a feeler but if i get a decent offer i will most likely let it go as i now need a bigger car.

Original 1991 J reg GT, it has a 1.6 head and block (ABU) with a modified inlet manifold to fit the head. It goes very well, at the moment there aren't any aftermarket parts on it and its quicker than a friend's 95bhp polo GT. It's a good drive, nice low down torque yet it doesn't mind higher revs either which makes it a good all rounder.

Good points:

Mint interior

Good engine setup, still has loads to give with more mods

Recent steering components replaced for MOT

Decat with no problems MOT wise due to it being a 1991 model

New engine mounts

Recent service

Still has front and rear GT badge

Comes with a spare 1.6 bottom end which i have and anything else polo related i have left

New alt voltage regulator

Loads of service history, MOT's from day 1 i think.

Lower strut brace

Bad points:

The shell isn't a minter, it has a few stone chips and dings although the paintwork does clean up well

Rear heater screen doesn't work (solder has come off the connector)

Exhaust is a standard GT item and could do with a better free flow exhaust such as a G40 system

Valve stem seals sometimes weep when stood for a few days and sometimes on the overrun. This is a common fault on the 1.6 and isn't anything to worry about and is quite an easy job overall

Gearbox whines a bit but i will change the oil next week to see if it helps, it is a strong box. Sometimes crunches slightly at full power when changing into 2nd

That's all i can think of at the moment, i have driven this car everywhere and has been totally reliable.

I don't want to sell it as i think it has a lot more to give but i really need a bigger car (looking for a mk2 Golf gti)
