13 inch on a mk4 16v?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to the polo world and could do with some advice. I've purchased a mk4 98 plate 16v as a bit of a project. I'm wanting to drop it on coillies and fit a set of 13 inch bbs. Is it possible to fit 13's to a polo 16v or do they have to be at least 14's

Any advice appriciated

Thanks for the quick reply :-)

You can fit some 13s but the offset has to be stupid so they clear the brakes

Or just fit 8v Brakes...:ninja:

Would they be up to the job? 16vs are given larger breaks for a reason

For what reason? the car is not any heavyer...

60mph is still 60mph...

70mph is still 70mph...

for the 1 Year + i was driving my 8v the brakes always stopped me . . .

The 16v gets to 60 or 70 quicker though so its handy to have the bigger brakes to slow down quicker.

+ its hastle for de grading your car you would have to be pretty desperate for 13s, i just dont think its worth it tbh.

I'd like to hear what you insurance company says to when you tell them you've downgraded your brakes. Most mk4s can't pull of 13s anyway. Usually end up with it dragging everywhere but still having arch gap.

Mine doesn't drag everywhere, nor have huge arch gap. Wouldn't mind smaller profile tyres mind but still.

Either way, I wouldn't go to the effort to downgrade brakes just to get a set of 13's. You may as well just get the same set in 14's, even though some wheels only do 13's. But just make a compromise rather than a mistake.

Your car just sits right IMO :thumbsup:I would leave that profile tbh.
