My mate just passed recently and is picking up his car on Friday, he rang churchill to get a qoute and pay for it so he could drive it on friday..

they said that he couldn't pay monthly because he is 17, even tho he said his mum would pay it monthly through her bank acount. but they still said that until your 18 you have to pay it all in full?

can anyone tell me if its right or just churchill tellin a porkie?

Its the same as having to be 18 to have credit card etc...

its to do with having credit history etc

i know its not the same, but i pay my own contract for my phone which i have done since i was 16 and they did a credit check on me and i still was able to pay it..

and also you would have thought it wouldn't be a problem if his mum was paying it? :-S

When I was 17 they said they didn't even insure under 21's

iv had 4 differnt insurers since i passed (when i was 17) Direct line, More Than, Norwich Union, Adrian Flux and they all excepted monthly payments on my own insurance policy no problem, tell him to look at better companies

Reason they wouldnt let his mum do it is due to the fact that the policy is in his name

I had to wait till I was 18 to take my insurance out as I couldn't pay the full amount
