I'm surprised there isn't much info about appropriate tyre sizes in the FAQ section, but I would like to know as above-

What tyre sizes are suitable for fitting onto a 14x6" rim?

185 is the spot on width for a 6J wheel. Depending on what car/suspension set up its going on will determine what profile you need.Normally its 55 and below for a mk2/3 polo.
