the polo g40 has gone to a better home where it will be looked after properly

met 13kpologt and genesis gt , chucked the bbq on for there arrival

took away the polo and placed a mk3 gti in its place

so far so good, never had a 2.0 before and petrol is expensive if your not used to it

but i like it, :rthumb:

not much planned clean clean and maybe some s3 s painted black

looking for standard gti headlights

standard airbox

and a how to on getting rid of the in02 screen thing lol

8v gti's are very slow ! but enjoyable

how can they be slow AND enjoyable? :p

they handle well when dropped and have good brakes! they feel so slow (had 4 or 5 myself) but to be honest feel alot slower than they are!

i found that when i went from a mk3 polo that was decked on the floor to some old 8v golf that was standard height, it felt alot slower till you looked at the speedo

Why

'power delivery' is like wading through treacle - to say the 2.0 8v 115bhp lump is lazy and boring is an understatement!

it's like a g40 just before it comes on boost - you're ready for the power is about to kick in all the way into you hit the limiter and realise it just isn't!!

might be swapping my 205 gti for an 8v, i know it will be slower but its got leathers aircon etc and i want a nice motorway cruiser, plus if i get bored with it i can drop a vr in or an abf as they should be plug and play

very true, came from my lowered 85bhp ish polo gt to my mk3 gti 8v anniversary and it feels so heavy and slow. but i look at the speed and its going along fine. its nothing exciting, but its not a dog slow as everyone makes the mk3 out to be. goes up a hill near me faster than my gt would, just doesn't feel it. plus the gti is only temporary till i get funds bk up and find the right G40 for me. i still buy bits on ebay for a mk3 polo like i still own one!

just wonderd why rich posted some pictures with a golf on the trailer....

he posted the pics of the golf on a trailor as he was coming to collect the g40 on the trailor...

i feel exactly the same as everyone else when they say it doesnt "feel as quick" your right , in reality it probably would be even however, when it comes to fuel, insurance, tax and overall feel as a quick car, a polo gt wins, hands down imo

mk3 golfs can look awesome though, bit more around too
