Anyone with bell on a 10 month acceleration policy?

Featured Replies

Just got my renewal through with DL it's quite expensive compared to what Bell can offer me on there 12 month policy. With Bell they have a 10 month acceleration policy and i can save a good bit more if I opt for the 10 month plan instead of 12. My question is even though I'm the main driver on the policy will I still get credible NCB after the 10 months are up? even if I choose not to renew in 10 months time? I've been hearing conflicting report on this, when I rang Bell I was told I would get a letter stating I had 1 years ncb with them, but I've read almost no other company would accept it=/ Has anyone chosen this policy and not renew'ed after the 10 months but still been able to use the 10 months as a years of ncb on there new policy when they went else ware?

On Bell's website (http://www.bell.co.uk/our_cover/bonus_accelerator.php) it states that, and I quote

"What if I choose not to renew?

If you want to leave Bell after the 10 months (although we hope you'll want to stay with us) then don't worry because we will give you proof of the No Claims Bonus you have earned with us."

This is a bit misleading because it does not state whether or not the ncb i earned from the 10 month policy is the equivalent to a normal 12 month policy and whether or not other companies will accept this.

Thanks

good point i would like to know this

bump

i went down the 10month accelerator route with elephant a few years ago on my car.

At the end of each 10month period you get a proof of no claims that states the period in number of years. never had a problem taking this to another company as proof of no claims.

The only thing i would say tho, is i say down and worked out the price per month for a 10 month policy, and then the price per month for a 12 month policy, and 12 months is cheaper per month, and to be honest your not going to save that much by getting a lower premium for a single years no claims only two months earlier. so probably not worth it.

When we got a second car i didnt bother with the 10 month accelerators, i guess it is personal preference.

I did the 10 month policy with bell.

It was nice and cheap for a 2.0 GTI, as I've been banned for drink driving and had no NCB.

I stayed with bell and took a 12 month policy this year. Was cheaper than the 10 month policy as I don't have to declare the drink driving anymore (and had one years NCB).

I can't add anything other than that.

Worked for me.

I recently transfered 2 years NCB from Bell earned on 2x10 month policies to another company and they were fine with it, no questions asked at all.

I did a ten month bell policy and got a years NCB out of it.

The best thing though was the ability to add driving other cars for about £35 extra.

I took the policy out today, opted the for the full 12 months just because I didn't want to take the chance that a year down the line i end up getting a really cheap quote from say testo or N Union or summat and then they dont accept my ncb. So just playing it safe really. Thanks for the info guys :-)
