sweet thanks that was dayam quick! bet they rub!

ahaha. nah man no rubbing at all. only 4.5J! lol

  • Author

4.5j haha ice skates, my rears are 8j, it was lowered 70 70, but it was to low, now its 40/40, which is too high, so I'm gona go 60/60, haven't actually seen many 60/60 though..

my mates gone down 90mm up front and 60 on rear, only rubs on occasions so hes gone up to 5omm on rear and he has 8J

if you got low pro tyres you will have massive arch gap on 60-60mm

60/60mm is perfect to me, can't beat it!

Nice and low, doesn't rub and sits level!

any more pics of 60/60? i have adjustable dampers on back so could probs lower them, but if you are mates rubbed that sucks, 50 is to high... I'm confused.

so confused, my mk3 polo was 70/70 but with 10mm lowering top mounts on front so effectively 80/70. its my daily and i live in cornwall i have big friends, so it just wasnt practical. i went to 40/40 but this looks shit. so basically i want to be able to drive around with someone else in my car in cornwall on some of the not so great roads in england and not rub my tyres when i take corners a bit fast, so i immediatley thought 60/60? but now I've been told the arch gap would be to big on rear? i am now running standard top mounts also. my rear shocks are adjustable, not coilovers but are adjustable. i have supersport shocks and springs all round.... I'm thinking i should buy some supersport 60/60 spings and some lowering top caps again for the front so that it will be 70/60, and if rear rubs a bit to much i can knock it up one notch on the rear shock to around 50.......

holy shit I've gone on, dont blame u if u dont read it.

much love.

This was mine at 60/60 i believe, before i stacked it into an unhealthy tree/wall combo... i really miss it!

nice are they 13's or 14's?

def needs to go down at the front a little, did u have any rubing issues?

14" on 195/45. You can see how flat the sill is to the floor but due to the front arch rising higher over the swage line it gives the image of it being higher at the front, so you're right 70/60 would be perfect. And it only rubbed on the rear right arch, because the lip had a tiny kink in and caught the tyre on heavy bumps. My mate has exactly the same set up with 14s on 195/45 and they dont rub at all, so its quite practical as long as you've got a fairly sturdy exhaust as thats the only thing that catches on anything.

ha yeh I'm running 13's tho, 7j front 8j rear with 175/50/13 stretched over all 4

yo what are the drops on those?

KODMeet.jpg

Someone with teardrops!

How low and what tires size?

Pleaseee get back. Thanks

it was over 100mm!!!!!!! maybe even 120mm!

I've got a mk2 atm and its down 95mm on 15s n its still soooooo high!

coilovers on the rear all the way

  • Author

wow that is low, i dont like the front being higher than the back at all though

you can quite clearly see that that is nowhere near 100mm let alone 120. That looks like a 60 or 70mm drop to me since teardrops are essentially the same wheel (ie size, width and offset) as p-slots. If what you're saying is right and you had 80/70 drop, then the obvious thing to do is go 70/60 and put up with slight scrubbing, its not that bad! My golf at the mo is wound all the way down and is possibly the least practical thing ever, gave my mates 5'1'' girlfriend a lift home and it at least tripled the amount of rubbing banging and scraping. But it was worth it for all the looks of disapprovement :)

I'm going for 70mm up front (60mm springs 10mm lowering mounts) 60mm on rear can adjust rear f i want it up r down too, was the looks because you are car was scrubbing or because you had your mates girlfriend in the car? HA

yeh boyyyy, that looks like 90/90!

The Austin Allegro was beautiful. Seriously,a truly stunning design.

Well,on paper,anyway.

The problem came when engineers tried to get their only available engines under the 16in high bonnet.. And the accountants couldn't afford the glass, let alone anything else.

By the time the first car rolled off the production line,it had been so heavily compromised, that it barely resembled the design that'd been rubber stamped!

This,of course, happens with all cars. And the Polo is no exception.

The front suspension on the MK2/F was clearly higher than the designers wanted, but warranties and Europe's roads had the final word. The Peugeot 405 had flat-faced circa 16s/17s in its original drawings, for example.

So what height should the Polo sit at? I believe it should be lower at the front,if by half inch. Probably about 35/30 on 14s with low profiles. The G40 sat quite well as standard after all,but still not as well as the standard XR2 or Nova GTE.

Mine is 60/50,achieved by setting it 60/40 and chopping a coil off to tighten the rear. I think it looks about right,in the eyes of the original design.

Personal preference is another matter entirely, and can be argued 'till the cows come home.
