Hi i'm selling a 1998 R rover coupe vvc in amaranth (perlecent purple). It is M.O.T d untill January 16th 2010 no tax. My dad brought the car yesterday after promising someone he would have it months ago. But now we don't have the space for it. It has been standing for a few months and the tickover is a bit up and down but it stays around the 1000rpm mark and doesant cut out. It has full cream leather interior foglights spoiler AC PAS C/L. The 2.0t were known as tomcats, and go bloody well. Bags of potential for more power!

No they stopped the 2.0l turbo's on a N reg then the VVC took over from the turbo. You can get a 1.6 a 1.8vvc 2.0 non turbo and a 2.0 turbo.

The VVC as standard produces 143 bhp and with a few mods they fly. Oh and for people who don't know what VVC is it's basicly VTEC.

It has MOT until jan next year and no tax.

And it's still for sale.

They do 0-60 in 7.8

And mpg wise you could put £20 in and it lasts for about 2 weeks of normal driving. And yes the other one is mine.

Well it's a good job the head gasket has recently been done on this one then isnt it.

mate went through 4 headgaskets in a month on his k series all dealer repaired

iirc the reason the kseries failed originally was because the one from factory was made from plastic. which if gone would be replaced with a metal one

The K-series engine was one of the most advanced and lightweight engines with fantastic power/weight ratio, hence they were used by caterham, lotus and landrover. Unfortunately, they were susceptible to head gasket failures, and in the early days there were lots of mistakes made, including the continual use of non MLS gaskets. If an engine is sound, and has a MLS gasket plus shim fitted (which was often left out causing raised compression ratio) then these will go on for miles. In itself it is not a reason to avoid a car, just to bear in mind, and not to drive the car with a water leak or if the temp gauge goes into the red!

On another note, I'm interested in this if it is still for sale, I have a 1991 GT squareback if you're interested, or cash if you're not!
