su carb conversion

Featured Replies

bought for my mk2, but never got round to fitting it. i have ported the inlet manifold and also given it and the adaptor plate a lick of paint. it was removed from an 1300cc autocross polo, but could be jetted to suite other engines too.

su's are known for their meaty induction roar and simplicity, so are a good replacement for the pooburg carb. you should also gain some bhp & torque from it too (though I cant say how much)

the kit includes polo ported inlet manifold, adaptor plate, carb and ram pipe/ torque tube.

i would recommend stripping the carb and renewing seals before use and you may find some mods are required to get the best from it. if your polo has a head driven fuel pump you will need to ditch this and run an electric one due to lack of space in the engine bay.

i payed £60 plus post for it, would would like a similar figure back seing as its in better condition than when i bought it!

manifolds etc have all been cleaned up and painted since this pic was taken

£40 +postage, or collection welcome to clear it out of my shed!

i have a hk engine which has the fuel pump on the left hand side nearest the cambelt, looking at the pictures, it would still be useable.

Would you be interested in £40 posted to w.yorks???

you could fit it, but i dont think it would be very benificial on a gt engine. (you'd need to regulate the fuel pressure and would also need to run mk2 polo ignition system) i really wouldnt recommend it for a gt engine though. if your desperate to run carbs on a gt engine, then bike carbs would probably make more sense
