just a quick (and slightly daft...) question.....

i dropped my gti on ta technix coilies, i'd say at a guess 80mm,and i'm going through tyres like there's no tomorrow!! so how does everybody manage, do you all do something magical lol?? its had the tracking done,didnt stop it, I've reduced the camber it had, but its still rubbing through the inside edge, probs every 5k miles!!!

is there anything anybody can recommend? i don't wanna have to raise it, cos thats criminal ad will look poo tbh

Wearing of the inside of the tyres is inevitable when lowering a car.

The wheels are naturally forced with negative camber, and it is almost impossible to get rid of it totally.

Have you had the camber properly laser adjusted at a garage? That's what I had done, but still wear the insides out.

i paid like 80quid for the tracking, camber and 4 wheel alignment to be done but that pooped it up more lol (shite garage tbh)

i know its a major prob, but I've had lower cars not this bad lol!!

got a nail in 1 tyre so will buy 2 again and start over, but find somewher decent and set the height then leave it methinx!!

What wheel/tyre combo have you got going on?

I only ask as had (still have) a similar problem with my scirocco, had to space the fronts 5mm away from the coilover as they rubbed, still pretty close now but mainly due to balloon tyres (185/60/14)

i've got 6x15s on it, like i said lowered approx 8omm, but i've got cheapy tyres atm cos it got a bit expensive running through toyos every 5months lol.

pain in the arse!!!

What's the offset and tyre size?

I'm down 110mm all around on my 6n2 with 15's.

bought brand new tires middle of May and my inners are shagged, need to replace them next month or something.

but o well a price u have to pay for running low :) :)

think the offset is 25, tyres are 195/45s

Offset is under 30 which is probably why you're having a little grief

I know mine scrubs on any offset under 32 with 6 and 7J wheels, only way round it really is to remove the arch liner

tracking and camber will cost you 40 quid you dont need 4 wheel alignment as the rears cant be adjusted

Could you not file a bit of material out of the bolt holes so that you can get more camber adjustment? Or use camber bolts or something?

erm it is expensive but I've still got about 6mm of thread, but I've covered about 3000 miles in the last month man.

you can adjust the camber on front struts as there is quite abit of movement unlike mk2 golfs etc

Yeah I know but I mean get a bit more adjustment then maybe you can have it a bit better and won't chew through tyres every few months.

didnt think you would need more, but oh well tracking eats tyres worse then camber iv found

My front tyres are fooked after no more than 3k, annoying as

thought having the offset under 30 would be ideal as it puches the inside of the tyre away from the strut thus reducing rubbing against strut and delaying the chewage of the inside of the tyre???

they dont rub against the strut..... well they shouldnt when tyres wear unevenly its normally due to the toe being out

or there being levels of neg camber.

but unfortunately as said, just a outcome of sump scrappage.

negative camber has less effect then toe

wouldnt know, never had any toe. But first lowered my car had quite abit of neg camber and went through two front tyres in 700 miles

yes i know that dude, but i went and had tracking done after lowering it, but kept the camber as enjoyed the handling far too much. But then after going through tyres after 700 miles, until i had the funds to go back and get the camber done just tried doing it ghetto style with a spirit level and inevitably knocked the tracking back out
