'Detailing' is just another fad thats come from nowhere and now everyone wants to stick their wangs in the pie. Sheer bangwagon-ism i think, give it a few months/a year and people will be back to saying "oh, yeah i gave the car a good polish at weekend"

I very much doubt that 100%, hell even 75% of the people that say they 'detailed' their car, ACTUALLY did 'detail' their car. They would of just polised the paint, cleaned the glass, hovered the inside and slapped a bit of tyre shine on

It all just seems very sad to me, my car gets a polish when ever i can be arsed and i dont think ill ever 'detail' a car, its just pointless if you use it everyday i think

As for needing a section?:lol: behave! do we also get a dogging section?

I dont excessively clean my car, and I'm not really into excessive cleaning of cars (or other shit actually) so i vote no

Whenever anyone mentions "detailing" I always seem to think of this from Sniff Petrol.

LMAO :lol: that guy is just like 90% of car enthusiasts AKA scene queens. I'm so damn glad to be part of the 10%

yeah, nice idea, but if u wanna talk about detailing, head on down to http://www.detailingworld.co.uk

:-)

lewis.

10 quid says you didnt read the whole thread? :-D

I vote no, because there is enough shit on here as it is tbh

haha cheers, to be honest i'm not really sure what the point was either!

i think to summarise, i would say no to a seperate forum section because there just wouldn't be enough to talk about.

but as there are obviously people interested in that kind of thing, i think it would be worth having a FAQ and guide to detailing, with loads of tips and demos etc (although i'm sure something is up like this in the bodywork section anyway?) and also a gallery thread, so people can post pictures of what they regard as their handiwork.

and to all the people who call detailing a waste of time, how many of you can say that you've seen an absolutely mint polo Mk1, 2, 3, or 4 that is bone stock and looks exactly the way it did when made by VW at the start of it's life? in the same great condition? it must be a pretty impressive thing.

i might be getting this a little confused with restoring cars now, but there's nothing wrong with looking after your bodywork as it is what values your car and one day there may not be a single polo around that isn't suffering severly from the orange tin disease. maybe something to think about..

...in one of those bland new-build houses with a criss-crossy brick driveway that all people who post photos of their cars on the internet seem to live in...

 It's true

Oh and anyway, what's the harm in making a subsection for it?

If you're interested in it there's a section for it, if you're not then don't look..

Simple

Compare the meerkat.com hahaha. Love that simples meerkat :-)

It might be because its late and I've not slept in what seems like years (dissorders are ghey, for the record) but that doesnt make sense to me

Ill look again when I'm fresh though, to be sure

haha, sniffpetrol always gets it right...

as far as I can work out, “detailing” actually refers to small decorative features on a building, work of art or other object and in no way means spending all pissing weekend rubbing a sponge and some cloths over your stupid twatting car’.

I'm well up for this dogging section lol
