few more wee bits since last time :)

i fianlly managed to pick up the last 2 pieces of trim :)

this is for the 2 bits that go round the steering wheel :) will need to bust out the headlight switch surround so i can re-fit my gloss black one but that can get done during fitting :)

involved this;

mk5golf437.jpg

just for the trim... can also see my mk6 headlight switch ;) just need to paint the cubby hole handle and headlight switch surround :)

I'm liking all these small touches, really make a difference.

Perhaps an Edition30 steering wheel now?

  • Author

thanks man :D

well a new steering wheel will hopefully make its way into the car at some point but vw being silly decided to make the airbags a differant shape between low end cars like my car and higher end cars like GTTDI/GTi/R32/edition30 steering wheel so i will need to shell out on one of those too which bumps the price of a complete steering wheel up to about £400.....

will prolly source one after get some nice leather seats or tartan in there first ;)

Has to be the GTI/R32 Buckets :D

They also came in tartan but are raaaaare as hell!

  • Author

yeah they would be awesome :lol: seen like one or 2 sets before... any of the buckets are uber expensive!

i was on the look out for R32 fabric seats... now those were pretty rare 8)

couple more bits since last. picked myself up some new plates for the car as my old ones were shockinly bad! have been cut up and all sorts :lol:

also finally picked up a 2 piece rear badge! which i've been looking for since not long after i bought the car!

mk5golf449.jpg

painted it with a grey background and a matt black roundel!

and another parcel thanks to mr ups guy :D not the norm i know but i wanted gloss black mirrors before i got the textured ones and well from far away these should look gloss :p AND i just heart carbon! needed an excuse to get some

mk5golf451.jpg

mk5golf452.jpg

mk5golf453.jpg

so then it was painting time :) rear badge and drivers side glove box handle!

mk5golf454.jpg

and the mirrors! looks abit greeny greyey outside but its all good :D no extreme fitment issues. a couple bits out of place but no one should really notice. other than that very happy :D

mk5golf457.jpg

mk5golf458.jpg

mk5golf459.jpg

and some more pics

mk5golf466.jpg

the badge; sticks out a bit so I'm gonna have to do some fixing with some water tight sealant and some washers. i also used crap tape to stick it back so will need to fix that cause it almost fell off too :lol:

mk5golf460.jpg

mk5golf461.jpg

and then i swapped out the front bump strips for the textured ones :)

mk5golf462.jpg

and a couple more of the mirrors!

mk5golf463.jpg

mk5golf465.jpg

Nice additions.

I feel the back just needs spacing out a bit.

  • Author

thanks dude :D

your right though! i do need spacers :D currently lookingfor a cheap set :p might be able to get some custom sized ones made cheap though ;)

Absolutely lush man

loving the wing mirrors :).

this is a seriously cool car

Alex

thanks man :D

still not happy with how the rear sits but i have a few plans to get it down a bit :D hopefully before UD :lol:

plenty of time for UD lol, i hope to this time drive to UD, as i crashed 2 days before hand =[

Loving the smattering of little OEM touches on the car! Is that mk6 Golf headlight switch just the middle barrel (i.e. the bit you twist) or is a whole unit including the surrounding barrel (that is marked "Auto" etc).

Cheers

cheers dude!

the switch must be bought as the full thing as the little twisty bit doesnt split from the outer shell :) its quite expensive for what it is seeing as the chrome bit it a bit flimsy but it looks good so :p

yeah plenty time! wheels will be coming off for the winter on friday and they will be getting an uber clean so they will shiney shiney for ud too i hope :lol:

bit unlucky for you! heres hopes this year is better for you :)

get yourself to the edin meet at the end of the month and i'll catch up with you there :p

wont look as good though! had a small misfortunate incident t'other day...

t had to happen sooner or later though....

saturday afternoon past i was parked out on the street and in the process of cleaning the car and had just started rinsing it down.

done the drivers side from the road them moved onto the pavement and then the lady from across the street starts reversing out her drive in her big renault scenic.

stops what i'm doing and waits on her to reverse out and drive off (didnt want to wet her car...) but instead of turning the wheel and reversing to the side and missing my car she just keeps going right back.

by the time i had realised she was about to hit my car...... CRUNCH! i dropped the hose and just put my head in my hands... what an idiot of a woman..... i didnt know whether to laugh or cry :rolleyes:

luckily she wasnt a few inches to the right or it was the merc wheel that would of got it! but now i just have a bumper and wing to fix....

her excuse was "i didnt see it"... normally she just goes right back and up our drive way then drives off. well hopefully she has learned a valuable life lesson :lol:

she went off to phone her husband so i got the ol camera out :) wasnt until she came back out that she said sorry aswell... so i now have a disliking for old ladys and renault scenics...

and as per all good bumps... her car barely showed any signs of hitting a thing.. most of the marks in the picture are where she rubbed the dirt away to see if there was any damage to hers.

oh and i was going to swap over to the steelies that day but i couldnt be bothered after :lol: still washed it :p

acht well... least its november and there aint another show till march :lol:

and one to show the good side :)

wounded mate with the bump! :(

love the osir carbon stuff....its amazing quality!

love the use of the front bumper too...GTi ones are ten a penny!

This really is stunning.

Its so simple too, which is what makes it work I guess.

Gutted about that bump, but as you say, it could have been a lot worse.

the osir stuff is awesome! couple litte bits here and there not great fitment wise but they can be rectified easily enough ;) would love more but price is rediculous!

i did have a decision to make with the bumper and as you say the choice was based on the fact most modified mk5's have the gti front :) and i like to be a bit differant :)

its getting fixed and the lady knew she was in the wrong so there was nothing to complain about :lol:

should hopefully be fixed soon-ish :)

ok so it got crashed into and now i've got it back :D its awesome now :p i know they never touched a thing underneath but considering i've been driving this;

mk5golf487.jpg

i had the choice of £10 per day or the car and now i wish i had taken the money :lol: £10 a day could have done so much more than this beast! only 2 good things about it... the steering wheel and the seats! but even at that the steering wheel doesnt adjust about enough and the seats make you sit too high... its also slower than my golf (you may find it hard to believe but its true!!!)

anyways not much been happening on the car front. got the wheels off and the front jacked up :) wheels needed a polish (or a miricle) the other night so i set about them :) need to find something better to use on them though as there's some pitting that needs taken care of :)

the work shed;

mk5golf484.jpg

the wheels in question;

mk5golf485.jpg

and the work table;

mk5golf486.jpg

no finished pictures cause they still look rubbish but i'll hopefully have em done soon-ish :D

also bought a de-badged grille and some new bumper inserts for the car which i might get round to fitting :) not going down the de0badged grille route cause it will cost too much and i'd rather use the money for some tartan :D

did trial fit it though :D

mk5golf489.jpg

well i went and picked it up today! felt so wierd getting into a car i didnt have to step UP to get into.. just about fell trying to sit in it :lol:

feels awesome though. so much better than the corsa :haha:

well as always an update means a picture :) looksa bit menacing i think :p

mk5golf488.jpg

running full winter mode now, carbon mirrors off, color coded bumps off, wheels off and the front of the car raised a good couple inches :D

cant wait for march now! although i've went through 2 front tyres between march and november so i'll need some new ones :erm:

might not be another update till march but we shall see what happens ;)

lol i've never understood why people raise their car for the winter :?

but absolutely gorgeous car dude, and your attitude towards the incident was great :thumbsup: the scene needs more people like you

hahah thanks dude :D i've had numerous comments on my attitude towards the incident :lol: i'm almost always calm but it seriously tested my patience :lol:

would loved to have kept it wound down but i needed to raise it cause the steels are about 2 inches bigger than the mercs and since i'm tucking a bit of tyre and scrub the arches all day long with the mercs i'd imagine the arch would get destroyed with the steels on :) were the steels the same size i'd happily have left it wound right down but i dont fancy replacing 2 more wings come march :lol:

mk5golf494.jpg

and new bumpstrips;

mk5golf490.jpg

will be painting these and buying the inserts and a few new bits during the winter :) just need some little rubber mats etc for the inside :)
