I think it look really awesome. Nice job on the car dude. And if you think you are calm towards a bumper hit... I stay calm for 2 hours when a bus wreaked my car... Since you have photoshop skills test your car with either the black roof or carbon. It would look mint.

Nice ride;)

acht you can pick em up fair cheap these days! specially if you only want a smaller engine :) it is a bit harder doing this on a budget compared to say a mk3 polo but you just gotta keep your eye out on forums and ebay :)

the neighbour was a dozy old git but i aint seen her try to reverse up my driveway again! whenever i see her across the road i go and stand at my car and watch her reverse out :p she doesnt like it :lol:

yeah they do make a differance :D i finally got the painted tops back on them too :D thought i was going to have to paint them again :p

i shoot with a Sony Alpha 200 DSLR! the pictures come out of the camera nice but the more extreme ones i have done alot of fiddling in Adobe Lightroom 2.0 to make them look like that :D and thanks for the kind words :D

Hahah that's ironic - I was thinking it was a really high end SLR; I use an Alpha 350 :D

  • Author

hahah 350 is also a good camera :) i was tossing between the 2 but couldnt justify the extra £100 odd for the extras at the time. so i stuck with the 200 and never looked back ;)

some people find editing so much "cheating" but i reckon my editing just makes them that little bit better :)

yesterday seen a nice little trip to pick up some new seats for the golf ;)

full grey and black R32 cloth interior, heated, height and lumbar adjustable fronts with a ski hatch and arm rest in the rear!

bit of a bugger due to one bolt being stoopid and not coming out! big thanks to my mate icy for helping out! had just the tool (the proper one) for the job :p

so now they are all in and ready to rock :D

this afternoon setting off with no rears!;

need some day shots! maybe laters ;)

epic, this is one of my favortie cars on the whole club.

well done to you sir.

  • Author

hahah thanks mate :D quite ironic that one of your favourite cars on clubpolo is a golf :lol: but thanks mate!

couple more pics in the day too ;) really hard to get a decent picture that shows off the centre's....

seats look lush, good job!

Never seen cloth R32 seats - they look really smart! Good buy!

wow i like it :thumbsup: nice buy! and iv not seen any cloth r32 seats either. bet there comfy =]

  • Author

thanks dudes!

they are quite rare hence not seeing much of them ;) i think most people who ordered an R32 obviously opted for leather versions of those seats or the recarro CS's :)

and they are comfy as hell :D

  • 4 weeks later...

few more bits in prep of UD :) car will be in the car prk most likely but i thought i'd give myself a date to get stuff done by :)

picked up some new coils...

mk5golf513.jpg

mk5golf512.jpg

fronts are goosed (maybe a refurb would do the trick but i think the seal between strut body and shaft may have gone cause it goes down faaaaar to easy and doesnt return and you can smell the oil as you push it down) will just need to look into it. one isnt as bad as the other though... but the main reason for the purchase was for the rears :) struts look almost new and the springs/seats aint the best but they willl scrub/blast up well... if i use them ;)

and all for the grand total of...... £40!

so once these get jammed on i can get shot of the full TATechnix setup so can get shot of them too ;)

the rear adjuster cups and seating rings were seized but i got the seating rings on the coils un-stuck! walking past a workshop at work and seen 2 oxy-acetalene bottles outside so went in and asked if they could heat somthing up for me... came out 10 minutes later with 2 rear coilover perches that were able to move! so i went to another workshop and grabbed a shot on the sand blaster and blasted crap out of them with it! clean as a whisstle now! also grabbed some stainless cap screws for the underside of them and a tub of copper slip :D so now they are ready to rock!

as for the rest of the car got a fair bit to do to it over the coming couple weeks in prep for the "good" weather and going to try rattle some of it out tomorow/friday if it aint to cold!

need to order parts form VW soon (all ordered now!);

front washer jet bump strip inserts

rubber mat for centre dash tray

sliding top cup holder rubber mats

and i need to find out if you can buy the engine cover plaquard separately too.... mines went walkies between me agreeing to take the car and picking it up all those years ago and i still aint found one for sale....

then i need to paint;

front bump strips

headlight switch surround

rear bagde

front badge

maybe paint the interior door/dash strips (7 pieces and need ideas on what color/combo). was thinking of trying that new carbon fibre vinyl that actually looks good or maybe since there is 7 pieces going for the ROYGBIV effect!

then i need to fit parts and get it back to how it should be;

modify and fit rear badge

fit front bump strips

fit carbon mirrors

polish and fit wheels

fit new rear suspension and wind down

try and connect up air bag in seats without blowing them up

and then it needs a hella good clean :D

looks aweeeeeesome

  • Author

thanks dude!!

forgot about this stuff too :)

since it was looking like a bad winter i put the car into FULL winter mode. took off the color coded front bumps, the carbon mirrors etc etc off so all these will need to get put back on too ;)

and then i started getting the wheels shiney again :D a tough, time consuming job but its gotta be done!

mk5golf514.jpg

mk5golf515.jpg

mk5golf518.jpg

as you can see from the pics they started out very pitted and covered in salt and general crap! i spent a couple hours or so on them and having got about 2/3's of the way through i think they are coming up pretty good :) just need to keep at them!

and lastly i cleaned the car! first time since that crazy old lady crashed into me :p so now its looking real clean :) oh and i chucked the rear badge on too see what that looked like up there too :) but it needs re-painted!

Please don't tell me you're using a sponge.

looks tight mate!

al have a snoop roud ultimate dubs carpark for this ;)

  • Author

thanks dudes :)

and no, not a sponge. its a wash mitt but the other side is bare but i only use the one side ;) bonnet does need a machine polish cause there is alot of buffer trails but that isnt neccesary just now since it wont be in S&S :)

Phew, had me worried for a minute.

when you say your mate icy do you mean ian chan ?

  • Author

Don't know where I mentioned his name but yeah that would be ian chan :) you know him?

errm kinda he's pretty good mates with a few people down my (ema page and few others ?!) and he's jus a legend in the dub world and icy pics lol !!
