well another winter has (hopefully) past so its time to crank the coils down and fit the summer wheels and all the other bits i didnt want destroyed during the crap weather!

so on saturday there i got a few hours in icy and watsons unit to fit the rear FK's and get the wheels, carbon mirrors and some other painted parts fitted :)

so at the start of the day;

i was to dirty to take progress pics and everyone else there was too busy doing stuff to their own car/shooting cans/general idiocy but i did manage a few afters :)

some afters;

i installed the rears with the perch and one seating ring in and its wound maybe an inch from the bottom. also i have managed to get the mirrors to fit ALOT better this time round so mega chuffed with those!

got my parents to take to the train station with some luggage on friday so didnt want it scrapping with them in it :) but after thats done i have the day off (minus an hour for a training coarse at work) so i can wind them to the bottom along with the fronts

i have alot of work to do on friday in prep for leaving saturday morn :)

i managed to get all the parts from vw and have started to paint my new bump strips and rear badge :)

all going well i should have better, lower pics on friday

doesnt need to be lower lol. but u need to paint the strips asap also whats goinng on with the mk3s and the scoda?

oh it needs lower just an inch and it will be lavely!

as for the other cars, they are all broken...

there is the red mk3 which was bought by my mate icy. it is now being stripped. currently has no interior, no engine, no bumpers and not much else

the green/matt black golf is broken. this is owned by my mate scott who was driving along the road then he got to a bit where there was roadworks... didnt see the little dip in the road where they had cut the road to start laying new tar and the subframe and engine got ripped clean off the front of the car. was terribly low

and the skoda is owned by my mate andy who was driving along and smashed a hole in the sump and broke the bumper! and the car is covered in oil from front to back and top to bottom (who knows how oil from under the car can get to so many places...) and the arches are rusted due to poke!

oh and in the first couple pictures inside the unit is a caddy van which is missing a front end and watsons 5 door polo which is being slowly but surely worked on :)

its such an awesome place to work since there is soooo many awesome cars in such a small place :p it gives good inspiration to get working when you go to do work :p

currently watching primed side strips on ebay that finish tonight... dont think i'll get them though! i did have a set of mk4 golf ones but the door has a funny ridge in it where the side strip is and it doesnt look good! i'll get there one day i think :p

quick question for you bud, are you running spacers on the merc rims? a mate of mine with a mk5 wanys to buy mine, i know the pcd is the same and the center bore's different but yours sit nice so wondered if you were running spacers?

nope dude no spacers on mines! just as they sit :) et47 is just about right for the mk5! if anything maybe a 10mm spacer on the back but nothing on the front as i've just lowered it and it rubs ALOT!

ok so maybe late but heres a run down of UD

stuff painted... not the best but it was getting on so they neeeded laquered.

instant gasket for president! its the glue of kings!

washy time!

time to wind the coils down down down.... all the way down! about an inch and a half to 2 inches lower :)

and the rear too!

rear badge painted but it sits funny!

once again instant gasket comes to the rescue! as does long bolts and some washers... hopefully you can see where this is going :)

nice big bead to stop the water getting in...

and one flush sitting badge

front bumps fitted too!

and the morning of the show :) car sat in strathy waiting on others :)

lil bit of an update

just some pics from t'other day! gave the car a good clean and a clay! needs it again though cause theres a load of rubbish landed on it since the last clay! still needs polished and waxed though :)

got the new mirror fixed and now i have a vinyl cutter for amking stickers i can see it getting a bit out of hand :p

inspectin some damage from hitting a bump which sent the car fllying through the air :p not as impressive as i had hoped....

needs a good shoot! soon

finished an exam at college t'other day and then headed right out with the camera for some calming :) was inspired by a mk5 jetta pic i saw last week to go out with the long lense and catch a nice black and white pic on a street :) and thats exactly what i achieved

wanted to use black and white as i've never tried it before and plus the car was hella dirty so wanted to hide it all :p shot in standard format then converted and tweaked using Lightroom 2.0!

oh and its latest addition we all know its true too :p

oh and I <3 being low enough to get stuck

totally pointless pictures but found it amusing that I held about 12 cars up for 10 minutes while I got my car dragged off of the rock I was stuck on! Front wheels clean off the ground and I was lucky my mate had his landy with rope and shackle :p horrible sound it made as my subframe ripped across the rock!

Its amazing, i love gettin stuck to. i once got stuck on the enterance to a doctors carpark (i needed to turn around) and held up about 4 cars trying to come out and about 5 cars coming in for like 15 mins. the noise it made as it scraped along floor when it finally came free was horendous. funny though :)

ok so past wee while since last update;

decided i had had enough of looking at that rusty patch on the door and sill... vw werent going to fix it and i sure as hell werent paying somone else to do it so it was left to one man and one man only.... me :slapped:

i thought i'd tackle the sill first as its out the way and if i buggered it then no one in theory should really see it :) if i did good i said i'd try the door..... well you can judge for yourself :p

first is the offending patch...;

then i had to rub it down, which turned out to be alot more than i first imagined as little spots become large flaky bits of paint which all gelled into one another blah blah.... so anyways after rubbing down i gave it a wee mask up (notice obligitory good looking ladies everywhere and a note to self to go to the opticians to get my eyes tested!);

and so with it masked up i gave it a coat of pound land primer (no need for etch primer here boyo) and then a wee few coats of paint, then removed the masking tape and another couple for blending purposes then some laquer :) after which i gave it a few rubs with scratch x polish and a clay... ghetto city! and the result;

so maybe i think i'll try the door :)

then with money lying in the paypal account buring holes in my imaginary paypal trouser pocket i was on the look out for something new to buy :) alas my latest purchase! not got anything to put on them yet as surfboards are freekin dear but i'm sure i'll find summit....

and as some will have seen a wee column in PVW about the motor! chuffed at that and it will take pride and place on my bedroom wall

I bought the roof rack because it was cheap :) only put it on to see what it looked like :p really wanted to put a surf board on it but they are damd expensive!

anyways an update as there hasnt been one for a while! and be prepared its a bit of a lengthy one!

day after loudon castle we were supposed to be heading to newcastle in my car to see a car for rachel :) heading towards my house to put the front plate on (forgot to put it on after loudon) then we were heading to the motorway. driving round a wee roundabout and spots a police car off to the side :) didnt think much of it when it pulled out. knew it was coming after me but didnt think anything would have been wrong.... brand new tyres the day before and no scrubbage when the car is stationary :) just smile and play along....

so anyways the police officer comes out and comes to the door. " awright i see you've lowered your car here and aye it looks great but eh we heard it rub going round the roundabout". thinking to myself aye right but lets go along. meanwhile a guy from VOSA is having a wee squint about the car.... gets me to go from lock to lock about 6 times trying to get the tyre to touch the arch but it wasnt for having it :p but then he calls the police officer over and they are oth looking inside the arch. next thing they pull me into the back of the car and tell me i haven't got an ARB link fitted on passenger side. my own fault for not getting a replacement when i fitted the FK fronts but none the less a bugger!

ends up with a 21 day slip for the plate and one of these;

had 30 minutes to get the car home and i couldnt got above 30mph.... nice! so i had to borrow someone elses car for the drive to newcastle then when i got home (luckily i had the week off work) had to get the car raised, a new ARB link fitted and it re-mot'd!

bammed about for a few weeks with the car high as a kite and didnt enjoy it one but so friday there i bit the bullet and lowered it again somehow its managed to go a bit lower than it was before which is always a bit of a bonus :p can still get 5 people in the car and drive about and it is always funny to watch people stare when we all get in :p

anyways nuff rubbish heres some pics :)
