Well after owning both of them, The mk3 just feels so much more refined.

Felt stronger and stiffer for some reason.

mk2 polo's are actually stiffer up front than the mk3's iirc. Different crossmember. Also a lot of the mk2's around were made in the motherland and no in spain. Not that it makes much difference. The mk3 does seem more refined to be in but i've always put it down to the dashboard, clocks etc looking less ancient and giving it that nice 90's charm (which is what the mk3 has in spades).

If i got another mk2 polo i would definately swap to a mk3 dashboard and clocks.

A nice clean, non sunroof mk2 polo coupe with your 1.6 engine inside, a mk3 dash and clocks and some choice, period friendly styling mods and it will be a winner for me.

Not enough nicely spec'd mk2 polos on here in my book :-)

Yeah that's a good idea! Might rip the dash out of this and use it in a mk2, only problem is they're difficult to find these days (in good condition)

Ideally I'd want a white or grey one too haha.

That's the plan dude... just keep it simple with a few choice mods and a set of sensible wheels an sticky tyres. 1.6 and i'll make a subframe up for it in summer when I'm back at work.

If you plan to put the MK3 dash into a MK2, make sure you get everything from the dash including the steering column and surrounding mounts etc

tbh, if something happened to mine. The 1st polos id look for to re-shell would be MK1 and MK2

I bought a mk2 once. Was okay, was a good car. Was a really good car actually. Clean as fook and only 44k on it IIRC. Dunno, something about mk3s does it for me. Best all round package.

Nah, just the shell ain't clean and straight enough for my liking. There was two big holes in the floor which i welded up but there's more holes coming through an stuff to fix just cos i ran it silly low and abused it pretty much

I had fun with it though, it weren't expensive and I did all i wanted to do it. If i sold it as a shell it wouldn't be worth as much as scrap value so I don't see the point!

Now's time to move on a build something purposeful, but with the possibility of rudeness with a wind down and a set of different wheels
