what the best paint to use ? and what what the best way to prep the wheels ?

i was thinign was them really well. then sand them . then wash with meths or white spirit then spray but not sure

Most rattle can paints will do the job.

all i did was get one of those scouring pad things (like the thing you use to wash up with but bigger and cleaner :p) and rub that round them a few times to scortch the surface, primered them, rattle canned them and still have to lacquer them (after been polished). Main thing is to make sure they are clean and they are all marked to give the primer/paint a surface to bond to.

2 tins should be enough to cover 4 wheels. If your just doing them silver you get these big tins of Alloy Wheel Silver from most motor factors, can't remember what its called but it a huge tin. If your using smaller tins you may need more.

yeah i got bbs rj 14 want to do them white with blue lips so was thinking to can of white primer to cans of satin white and 1 blue

iv done a couple of refurbs now on my mattigs

jsut rub them down to get all the old paint off & provide a decent surface for the primer to stick to.

do many thin layers of primmer, allowing 5-6 mins in between each coat untill youve got a decent coverage.

allow to dry, i normally leave for an hour or too but this is too much haha, i jsut like to be careful

then using very fine wet & dry, with soapy warter rub down jsut enough till youve got a nice smooth surface. this really effects the final out come!

once rubbed down clean off & dry very well making sure theres no dust or dirt, then spray one very light, quick coat, it doesnt even have to cover it totaly, jsut a dusting

again allow 5-6 mins then repeat with a similar light coat etc repeat untill you have totaly covered the wheel evenly & smoothly.

i found its good if on the last few coats you give it some making it quite thick, but not too thick so it runs!!!!

allow to dry over night :)

in the morning get your lacqure, apply a quick thin layer [adhesive coat] allow for 5-6 mins then do one big thick coat. not too much so it runs!!!!

make sure you dont dust this coat! you wont get a smooth even finish. then repeat with one more layer making sure its smooth with no runs. allow to dry again all day in the sun

then you should be all done! any orange peel or un-eveness can be sorted with polish & a buffer but be careful not too take too much off depending on how thick your lacqure is

i used one can of primer from halfords, & two big cans of blue & one big can of laqure which i got from a colour match centre

yeah that does mate i been looking at you are wheel for insperation lol do you have msn or somethign aswell so you think one primer will do all the wheels?? might haave to go to halfords
