your car looks phat if its the one in the pics, dont ruin it with 6x9s, replace the door speakers and the tweeters in the dash with a set of 6.5" components and buy a powered sub for the boot, mine is so powerfull it moves your hair and also the person in front/behinds mirrors :D

Jon

SUBWOOFER.

Uprated Door Speakers

Uprated Tweaters

and a mate of mine hates 6x9's so he got some other speakers and mounted them by his rear seats like this:

Alex =]

JL C2 6.5comps in the front, JL G4500 4 ch amp, JL 12wov2 12" sub in polo = banging thats what I would do

i have uprated front speakers , tweeeters , crosovers , amp and part wiring kit and 6x9 600wat system forsale , pm me guys

In my car I have the following, and it is proper fuckin loud.

Alpine IDA-X001 headunit

Infinity Kappa 65.7cs components powered by JBL amp (until I get a Genesis profile 2)

Alpine Type R 12" Subwoofer powered by a Kenwood amp

Shit loads of sound deadening

Solid mounting points

Don't get 6 x 9's, and you don't need any rear door speakers.

got my stereo set up just right sub in the boot and 10cm speakers in the dash set as front speakers and 6.5 fusion speakers in the doors set as rear speakers

think we need vidos of systems

Nut on a budget?

Best thing to do is to look for deals and packages.

For example, my door speakers were listed at 199.99, but were on special offer at 86.99,

my headunit is listed at 349.99, but i got it for 145.00 as it was refurbed to new condition.

Don't buy cheap poor quality stuff, because you'll only wish you saved up a bit more.

Look for the high quality stuff which is on special offer etc, or in the classifieds. You can find some right bargains in classifieds, especially subs and amps. Door speakers you will probably have to buy new though,

JL Audio Tr650-csi £120 or Focal 165a1 £140 eaither are really good where are you in London I can tell you where you can buy them then as you normally cant buy these brands on line

nothin wrong with 6x9s,

a there just a good upgrade for someone who just wants a little more bass and sound down the back.

and b, there good with a sub if you can tune it right, i have a oldish pioneer hu, there were rca outputs but no sub controle, jus several different tuners like highs mids and lows aswell as how much of what tone you want to send to the rears.. sounded top quality. but half the flutes out there dont know how to toon them up right, just go ALL BASS.

very true in a way, i put a pair of pioneer 6x9's in our dj van, mounted them up in the corners of the cabin, decent kenwood hu, tuned up properly, they sound PHAT

they only cost me a tenner for the pair

obviously running them in a parcel shelf with a sub right underneath is definately not reccomended though

hey, sorry to thread steal a lil but i have 4 vibe QB69 and a Audiobahn 1205N, infinity door speakers and alpine tweeters. I know you hear sound from the front but when i turn the amp down on my 6x9's you loose loads of the warmth and body to the sound....... what door speakers can give the same effect as having 4 QB69's?

Also if i face the otherway in my car it sounds alot louder (for obvious reasons) but how can i possibly get the equivalant to 1200w full range from the front?

You dont need full range up front mate, a decent set of components will be loud and clear enough to work with the QB's in the rear.

sorry... i meant if i was to ditch the QB's how would you achieve the same without them?

Everyone say's don't bother with 6x9's but at the moment i wouldn't take mine out as they add so much.

Its total stupidity... fair enough if you want to spend a lot of dosh and have a "perfect" sound system amps, components and sub is the way to go.

BUT 6x9's and a decent HU are great for making a standard (old) car sound instantly miles better, I have a set of pioneer 6x9's and a pioneer HU and it sounds miles better, all this shit people spout about how you want the sound from the front....??? WTF do people pay for surround sound systems then?

Also a mate spent about £120 quid on directed audio components and a £300 Pioneer HU and without being amped it sounded totally shit and tinny, wheres the other mate spend about 40 quid on pioneer 6x9's in a sale and a cheapo Pioneer HU and it sounded miles better.

Rant over...not like anyone even said anything that bad lol.. but I've just seen so many of these tyope of threads where people get an absolute slating for it.

We're talking about car audio not a home cinema experience where we say sound from the front.

If we're gonna give him advice, we're gonna give the best, and like you said, the best option is components upfront and a sub.

Totaly depends on your budget for audio, and how its setup. alot of money is involved it getting a realy nice sound :) maybe if you give a budget people can suggest items!

Get an Mtx Jackhammer :p

lol your mate who brought the components and the pioneer HU is stupid if he expected it to sound like the 6x9's and produce bass, and you cant compare the two set up's because they both do different things

6x9's produce bass, mid, and treble

a component set is supposed to produce JUST mid and treble, and are usually accompanied by a sub for the bass

as you said 6x9's are a good cheap option, but to go louder and have more quality, a CORRECTLY SET UP component and sub combination is much better...not more 6x9's

LOL @ the Surround Sound comparison.

How often do you listen to an atmospheric horror movie in your car?

Or a bass-heavy hip hop album in your living room?

It's an age-old debate now.. Yes, a CD player and 6x9's are the cheap and easy solution to get sound into your car, and alot of people will be happy with that, fair enough..

But if you know your audio and want a Proper sound stage in your car.. decent components up front and a good sub in the back is the ideal choice.

This comment almost made me spit my drink out in laughter hahahahahahaha.

He's got ripspeed dvd player in his car thats why innit

Can you imagine it?

Coching on Tesco carpark at midnight watching Dawn Of The Dead on your Halfords 7" screen, shitting yourself from the sounds coming from your 400watt 6x9's

Make a box as big as your boot and put 2 2500w 15"s in there. Thats what I did.
