i posted a thread on here a while ago asking how to change the locks on the 6n glove boxes, i search for it but couldnt find it again

any ways i now know how to do this if any one is interested? i can try do a step by step guide if theres any demand if not theres no point!

I would appreciate it as my glovebox lock is crap. I can open it when "locked" with ease with a slight wiggle.

firstly i took of the drivers side glove box (i didnt do this for the passenger side but I'm sure it will make it even easier):

drives side; open push two holding clips in and it will drop further down the just unclip it

passenger side; depending on if you can get the hinge clips out get some thin nose pliers open it up the box pinch and push the hinge pins out then it should simply come off, if not unscrew it all then do the hinge clips,

then looking at the back of the lid at the lock, notice the back of the lock barrel, i used 2 really small flat blade screw drivers and gently prize out the two clips holding it in, (i found out after prizing the barrel out if you put the key in the barrel whist doing this the barrel will just fall out! if it doesnt turn the key!) take the barrel out!

so now if you just need to change the barrel its easy put your new barrel in and then squeeze the back clips back into place!!

please note there is a notch at the top of the barrel this need to go to the top when replacing also!!

or if you need the whole thing out....

still looking at the back of the lid you may notice that behind the locking pin things (two metal things sticking out either side) thers a plastic clip going horizontally across, pry this up on each side and eventually it will come out

next!!!squeeze the handles together on the front

finally pull the mechanism out of the back of the lid!!

please excuse my socks ^ lol

to install new lock just reverse this process and make sure all clips are secure!!

I am thinking of "uprating" the locks on the gloveboxes somehow becuase my passenger side glovebox lock can be pulled off by hand.

Good guide! thanks man, just replaced my old lock with a new one out of a SEAT i found at the scrappy.. just had to file down the hole in the glove box door as the new one was a bit longer.
