I had a private registration number on my car (I own the number) but a few days ago i purchased a new registration number. The original number that was on my car was retained (by myself) and the new number I bought has been transferred onto it. Is the new number I've transferred onto the car a transferable or non-transferrable number? (I own the number)

Depends what you want to do and when...

Its on the car now, so technically, that is the vehicals ID...

If you sell the car with the plate on, ownership is transfered with the car - in this case, put the plate on retention prior to sale and obtain a replacement plate from DVLA, usually the vehicals original plate or some other random plate which is available. Updated V5 required for sale to complete.

If you write the car off, the insurance co. 'may' take ownership of the plate if they take the wreck, grey area so be careful - you will have to buy it back from them. Again to avoid, put the plate on retention before the insurance take ownership - ie, before you hand over the V5.
