as above, will a downpipe from a 1.0l mk4 fit onto a 1.4l mk4?

need to know asap.

If it's the 8v I'm led to believe so, however, if it is the 16v they have a larger pipe diameter.

Basically i just rang up vw and they gave me the number for caffyns, they said it wont, but i still think they are wrong and it will fit, but dont want to waste money buying the part then find out it dont fit, am being put on the spot a bit..

Where is your lambda sensor located on your 1.4? If it's a later model it will be in the manifold, but if it's earlier it will be on the horizontal part of the downpipe under the engine, just before the cat.

If it's an earlier model polo and the sensor goes infront of the cat, and your 1.0 downpipe doesn't have a hole in that place to put the sensor then you will be a bit stuck as you won't have a hole in your manifold for it either, and no place to put it. This may have been why that garage place said it might not fit, but there might be another reason (I don't know of any others though).

Find out where the lambda sensor goes on each system. Hope this helps.
