I'm taking my bumstrips off today, just wondered the best way to do this?

i was gna use:-

hairdryer

credit card

white spirit

this the best way?

BUT...

how do i blend the paint, because i have a feeling, since the sun has gotten to the paint work it has faded, and underneath the bumpstrips its fresh paint from factory!

?

i have found spraking them in wd40 then a bit of fishing line to cut throw the glue betwean them and the car then more wd40 to get the glue off the car.

what t cut should i use? the white restorer? I've used t cut on my fiesta before and it made the paint swirl! :S

not shore wich one. yes a light t cut then a good polish shoud be ok

No, no! theres a much easier way mate. Theres also a section in the faq about this.

Basically boil a kettle to ALMOST boiling. Then pour it onto the strips as you lean on them slightyly (just to let the water down the crack. One end is normally enough, so that you can get a grip on it. Then just pull it away, should be fairly easy. You may find they have already started to come up at the end of the doors anyhow

Though i do like the fishing line idea

After this, go grab yourself a fudge/caramel wheels. Basically a rubber wheel you put on an electric drill. This should them take any gluey residue off. Your local body shop should stock them, not halfords though :-D

I did mine a few weeks back, and i would not have wanted to do it with thinners etc. Would have taken so long. The wheel may leave a yellow residue. However, NORMAL T-cut should take this off

This way will save you so much time, but beware with the fuge wheel, if you hold it in one place for too long, you will melt the paint, so keep it moving, and stop now and then to let it cool a bit
