my grandad has an R reg prelude 2.2 vtec that used to belong to my uncle before he fooked off to bali and been left on his drive for about 3 years. he recently told me he was thinking about giving it to me, but my mum talked him out of it coz she thought it was too fast and id kill myself, WTF lol

i only found out about that when he put a ticket back on it and decided he was going to use it himself. so gay haha

I've had a civic it was a EG 1.5 non vtec. slow as fuck but looked nice. There is a sceane of civics and you soon pick it up. Go on www.civiclife.net and look at some of the best EG's in 5th generation section. some of them are imence..

surely it is just a normal 16v, untill it reaches the point were the vtec system changes the camlobes at around 5-6k as its pretty much an on/off system? so vtec does kick in as its the action of moving to the higher lift/duration cam

Yeah i agree with that point; but it works both ways as it has two operations. That's why I don't understand it kicking in, it's more switching between the two operations. One for the low RPM/ fuel efficiency and one for High RPM/ max power output.

it engages at soemthing like 4500 rpm. You can feel it , search youtube and see how it works.

Its not always in operation though it is? vtec engages at 4'500rpm. So there for it isnt always engaged, it kicks in at a ceryion RPM

v-tec isnt working all the time, it cuts in at 6k iirc. the engine in none vtec mode feels shite, but when the vetec cuts in it really does change the engine into a beast. its like a jeckle and hyde engine, only way i can describe it.

And its even better in an integra type R, 193bhp standard. 450bhp with a turbo conversion.

my best mate has a modded to the teeth 1.8 integra engine in his civic and it's the most insane car i've ever been in but i've been in faster cars.

v-tec really is alot of fun.
