MK2 Golf or Civic EK4 (VTi)

What mods you done then? Standard 0-60 is 7.9 (Slower then a 16v) and you have 157 bhp compared to 139 bhp and your 300kg heavier.

I would have thought any well maintained 16v would have no issues matching you.

Must have been badged as a 16v then.

What sorta times (i know theres a lot of variables) would you expect a standard 16v GTI to run on the 1/4 mile?

My friends were getting just under 16sec all day long at santa pod, i on the other hand like now have a non running 16v

Very similar times then, mid to high 15's for a b16'd coupe

I didnt mean that to come across as a chavvy comment lol, just stating what i've experienced so far - it'd be easy for a MK2 Gti of any form to catch a B16'd Civic out initially, they only produce 111 lb ft of torque and thats at 7000rpm LOL need to be on the boil especially in the heavier coupe like myne, all part of the fun though.

whats up with it ginger pubes?

Its down to the driver most of the time, i have caught out many bigger cars when they are caught off guard haha

I even gave a 316i owner a scare in my 55bhp Polo earlier due to power to weight.

I remember upsetting a chav in a 306 D Turbo when I had the 1.3 Breadvan, was most amusing - that thing was quite nippy for 55bhp

Broke down and wouldnt go anymore about 3-4 weeks ago.

Well, the wireing in the bay was a bit shit (Couple of wires broke as they were britel) so replaced all that, new starter motor and got a new dizzy for it.

New problem today though, went out to try the new dizzy and put the battery back in etc and someone in the last few days has broken into the car through the boot and fucked the steering coloum. No damage to the wireing, ignition and stalks thankfully but the surround was taken? Didnt touch the sterio or anyting but screwed the colum and gaitor by swinging on the wheel. So thats a new issue.

Also a bonus was they didnt damage the leather interior. The other odd one is they obviously went back out the boot as the driver door is still locked (The passenger side is against a wall so they couldnt get in that side).

Issues ay!

i embarrassed an evo FQ300 through the lanes in my old 16v (yes i have mentioned this before and no i don't get bored of mentioning it  ) he was giving all he had but it wasn't much, all the power in the world will not make up for a shit driver, as amazing as his car is he shits himself when the road does any thing but go straight :retard::lol:

if you need any parts i might have them lying around, i stripped a mk2 not long back and still have a load of random shit lying around from it and i've still got half a shed full of shit from another mk2 me and my mate broke a few months back.

I will access the damage and what parts me and my bro already have and give you a message mate as your going to E38. At the moment i know i need a 90's spec steering wheel surround - hazzard switch on the top.

Cheers!

so a bit of a hollow victory then

so i have 1 big choice to make ahead of myselfin the next month or so,

do i buy a mk2 16v gold and stay in the dub scene ?

or do i get a civic EK4 and have possibly the best ever 1.6 engine made under the bonnet ?

But the big question is how much diffrence is between the 2 on handling and performace ? and is there a scene for the likes of Civics ?

I'm stuck in a difficult decision here :)

your question answers itself, you've stated the EK4 has 'possibly the best ever 1.6 engine made under the bonnet' which says to me that your edging towards the civic. And yes it does have a big following just like any other car, sites such as civiclife.net and civicsportsclub.org (i think there right) give you an idea, only thing is i think the dub scene is more of a laugh where as everyone in the Jap scene are competing for whos car is more JDM or who has the most power...

You're abit slow chidley, he's already bought a golf

Good buy though, get some pics up!

well i wont have any pics of it untill next week I'm afraid guys !

its only time I'm able to pick it up (:

but i have big plans for it :) got 6 months to mod it so should be upto a good spec by the end of it plans so far in order !

Full strip down :o

roll arches with the good old roller as much as i can :)

respray shell

replace interior with a decent one mine is abit shabby :)

best set of coilovers i can buy for around 800 big ones.

modern lines or something split :) or might go diffrent from the scene :) (probally around 15x8s nothing major)

ENGINE TIME BABEH !

4 branch too straight through stainless system

change the induction to something a little better

uprated disks and pads probally something drilled and grooved with some decent pads not sure what yet

then later next year hope to get some diffrent cams in on verniers.

thats about all right now :)

Could anyone fill be in about the electric side of the engine, IE can they be chipped ? or remapped ?

not under any massive understanding of the car yet, but I'm looking about best i can and working out what seems best for me/the car :)

8v to 16v seems like a big step :D

Cant be chipped as there is no ECU.

Also does it have PAS? If so might as well scrap the 4 branch idea.

no it doesnt have PAS, why how does this affect having a 4 branch

Edited by boomzor

Cos the PAS is in the way and its very hard to fit a 4 branch.

Also replace the engine mounts so you dont crack the 4 branch when the engine rocks.

its not really though is it, he may be a shit driver but these cars literally drive themselves. its pushing a good chunk over the standard 300bhp and was one of the most advanced 4 door saloons ever built with performance verging on supercar standard... and i pawned it in a car that owned me a tenner

my mate had a 4 branch on his 16v that had pas with no problems :?

What brand 4 branch is that?

Btw, do you have a 90's spec steering wheel surround (Hazzard switch on top)? I got a colum today but someone had already pinched the surround.
