How are people doing it?

I'm only 18 but people are wanting 6000 pound which funnily enough i won't pay.

I have tried gettin classic car insurance but no one wants to insure me on that aswell.

Anyone similar age who are insure for about 1500??

youll propley stuggle mate with a g40 at 18 bit to power full... but sayin that at 18 i had a golf mk2 gti n i payed 1200 a year ...... TRY ADRIAN FLUX they best for young drivers n powerfull cars

Good luck getting a cheap quote on a G40 at 18.

They are group 15 and it looks like your in a bad insurance area aswell if the cheapest you can get is £6k.

Try some of the companies in the back of the performance car mags. TBH though, I can't see anyone queueing up to insure you on it just yet.

most wont touch you until yout 21 matey, after 21 you'll be singing, best off with a GT to be fair

Best stick to a GT for the time being as already said. Its a high quote for a reason....young inexperianced driver + powerful car = hedge fodder.

I'm 18, my insurance on a 1.3SPI is 1500 and I'm from down the road, good look!

cheapest so far is £2k I'm insured on a valver at the moment just want something that little bit quicker.

At 18 i had a bloody 1.0 Mk4 haha

Why waste so much money on insurance now when in a couple of years you can get it much cheaper. I waited till i got 3 NCB (20yr old) till i got my Golf 16v insured for £800 inc my coupe S.

A Polo 16v is more then enough power for you surely?

Why do youngsters need to be as fast as possible with a lack of experience? I'm young (19) But I'm perfectly happy in my GT for now, will go onto a g40 when i can afford insurance. IMO its not worth scraping together for insurance when you can just wait and have an almost as fast car. Just go for a GT - mine keeps up with a mates 16v :)

tbf if you want a small quick car get a 205 gti 1.9, it will fall apart but its probly quicker then a g40 and cheaper to buy and service etc

I'm not going to be scraping together as i pay 1500 now. i may be young but i don't drive like a dick so there are no issues there. if you are not answering my question please keep your opinions to yourselves. simples :-)

I was making a remark about the money you will spend owning it - servicing/parts etc are not cheap.

Many owners on here will tell you how many thousands they have spent maintaining them. Also lots of G40 owners have another car for when the G40 is of the road.

i had my g40 at 19 i insured it all mods etc declared 2k and i live in a good area but i had the money to maintain...if you dont have a good wedge to spend after buying one and insuring one its not worth it as they need care !

can you not get insured as a named driver under your parents and earn some NCB at the same time?

things like that with direct line are stupid as most other insurers dont see it as NCB
