my new temporay car (golf mk3 gti anniversarey content)

Featured Replies

about 3 months ago i smacked my polo gt into a curb and bent the chassis leg and unfortunalty was to much money to warrent fixing the car with all the re-jiggins and parts.

for anyone who remembers my gt...

STKI0024.jpg

was compeltly gutted about the dmaged, apart from the wheel being bashed back against the arch on the near side you didnt see any real damage util you opened the bonnet and saw things were creased

so i have been stripping the car of thigns i want to keep and things i can sell and the shell is getting scraped.

the plan is to replace the GT with a G40 at some stage and tranfer all my OEM+ parts across.

so anyawys, a good month went past with no car i spotted a VW Golf Mk3 GTI 8v Anniverary for sale not to far away, wasnt much money so brought it knowing that the 8v GTi wasnt VW's finest hour making GTI's being not very fast and heavy things, but will do until i get funds back up and find that G40 i want lol.

any ways had the car month or so now and its really growing on me. its not as dog slow as everyone makes out, its faster than my gt, but really doesnt feel it.

heres somes pics from my pohone i took weeks back...

i wasnt going to spend any money on the car and keep it bog standered until i move on BUT like i say its grown on me so I've made plans.

the wheels are getting a referb, the paint is flakin and are just rough, apparently this is common on the 16" BBS RXII's.

I'm going to do a vento front end change on it as i thingk the lights on the mk3 make the car looks dopy and soft lol. I've sourced a early sytle vento grill, vento headlight protectors. lights i can get anyime, hard bit will be the bonnet, either finding one in in my paint code (diamond black perl effect) or getting one sprayed.

its got a lowering kit on but the front needs comming down alot more to get some sort of a stance going on.

il keep you updated on progress, hoping to get the wheels re-done next month, i jsut need to find 3 spare 5 stud wheel to put on the car while the wheels are getting done lol.

thanks for looking

liam

Golf looks good, not at all surprised to see it going down the OEM+ route :-p

still works though

lovely. no matter what people say (mostly people who never had one), a good mk3 gti is a very nice car!

wow that gt was mint! and thats the first mk3 golf I've seen that actually apeals to me i usually hate them lol good work. where did you get the headlight protectors from for the mk3 polo? have to get me some of those

That is one minted car mate!!!

Mmmmm, OEMness.

I've went to do the boot lifter as your bonnet lifter mod on mine. The only thing I struggled with it how to attach it to the bonnet. Where do you get the knuckle bit so you can have it as one of the bonnet bolts. I looked on the modern VWs that come with them as standard but they are just part of the hinge or bonnet.

Thats really nice mate.

thanks for the positive comments.

ben.r: i brought the polo headlight protectors on here, there was a group buy couple years back. think your best bet is ebay and keeping a look out on here. soory to say, that are a very hard item to come by theses days.

heartagram: i just poped scrappie, brought some struts from a mk3 golf boot and oddly enough the knuckle bolt is a direct fit into the bonnet hinge holes. aslong as u get mk3 strut and not newer ones, u should be A-OK

That golf is... Sexual tbh it looks so tidy with the vento front end and de tangoed rear lights :) 10/10 for OEM styling :)

brought this Golf_III badge off US ebay. such a cool badge i thought, as i always write cars down and MKI, MkII or MKIII. anyawys, rubbed off he silver which was worn, coat of primer and few satin black coats and stuck it on the car.

Love your Golf mate :). After refurbishing the wheels it will look even better. Now that you are done with the look find a VR6 engine and slum into it :).
