the drum brakes have siezed up on my mk4 polo from not being driven for abit. not sure how to take off the drum brakes cos there pretty rusted.

managed to free up the right one by moving the car back and forth but the left one just slides along the road.

any help will be great thanks

Take it for a drive and keep applying the hand brake down a quiet road, dont be affraid to skid. Keep applying the brakes generally aswell.

or just take the wheel off and get your old friend timmy out :-)

iv tried belting it with a hammer but it didnt free it up. so i tried driving it but the wheel doesnt move just slides across the ground. anyone know what to do?

handbrake off and a sharp belt with a hammer onto the wheel buts usualy does it...has worked for me on several old classic that have been stood

had this ages ago after I left an mk4 for two weeks, batting it with a hammer worked.
