I think these are golf boxes, but do they fit short block polo engines? AEE in particular?

no, only the tall block engines, or the late 1.6 16v engine possibly.

020/02a boxes are alot larger than the 085, chassis leg modifications required usually, not to mention custom mounts.

Yeah, thought as much.

Just really wanted an exposed cable shift mechanism in the cab.

Know of any cable shifts boxes that do fit?

The later mk4 Polo had cable change.

Hm, do you know what the gearbox codes were by any chance? Or which model of polo had the cable change?

you can put the cable change on any 085 box. just need the bracket off a mk4.

And that will fit a small block polo engine? Awesome!

Which bit would i need? The whole mech from the cab, and the bracket? Is that a mounting bracket?

It'll be form over function - the 6n's cable change is like stirring soup compared to the rod remote.

Only 6n's have the mounting points on the gearbox housing for the remote linkage.

Oh yeah, it is totally form over function, they just look really cool.

So a 6n box then? I may have a look. If its too much work, might not bother
