okay basically...

i crashed into the back of someone, a car cut him up, and he slammed his brakes n i slammed mine on, he only had 1 brake light but I'm not disputing its my fault basically wondering what he can do.

after i hit him he drove straight off,leaving the scene of an accident, so me and my mate pulled over to clear the glass from the headlights out of the road, and pick up any bits of trim/grill ect. assesed the damage to my car, (thankfully just bonnet grill bumber slam pannel thing which has the rad mounted on, all ordered getting tomorow :) )

as we went to drive off the fella emerged out of a side road with a freind, so he obvs went roand the block and picked someone up, as he was alone at the piont of the crash, so anyway this new guys doing all the talking asking for details ect, even tho he didnt evan witness the crash!

they tried to make me pay cash wich wasnt working,lil bit of intimidation wich also didnt work,refused to give me there details, but insited we go to a garage to asses the damage to pay cash.i took them to my mates garage just round the corner at wich point the original driver is now the passenger (they switched drivers), were he said just let insurance sort it out,when the guy said well I'm calling the poilice look at my mates back, when he was fine and the crash was barely at 20 mph.i said whatever jus gimme your details talking to the original driver,whebn his mate went off,rang someone and rote down the name and address of someone, gave it to me, and they drove off, they wuldnt tell me which of the pairs details it was.

I'm only third party, and 18 so dnt want i claim against me, its more than likely the original driver had no insurance so got his mate along, but what can they do?surely leaving the scene of an accident and changing drivers isnt too good isit?I've got two witnesses reported to the police, but if they try to make a claim that the other man was driving at the time they haven't got a leg to stand on have they?

fella deliberatly crashed into my old car and left the scene i rung the police caught him driving about arrested him and he got 11 points i believe on top of his original like 6 and a big ass fine just for leaving the scene

that was him admiting he done it in court so god knows what he would of got for pleading not guilty

if you have at least one independant witness (not a mate of yours) who is neutral and saw that this fella drove away on his own, then that alone should have some standing legally. if the witness could ID him as the driver then you should have no problems with regards to the insurance either, but if no-one else saw that he was driving the car then you might have a hard time proving it (his word against yours).

you will lose on this basis as you are only 18 and seen as an immature driver unless he was foreign and doesnt have a uk license, glad to hear no1 was seriously injured

sounds like ull be grand the guy could have drink or drugs on him like, it that hada a happened were i live then that would have been the case anyhows, a few years back i was in an accident, it was our falt... however the car we crashedd into drove off our car was a write of so we call the police and told them what happened,

the caught th eguy cus it wasnt his car it was his girlfriends and she phoned the police on him as he said it wasnt him???????

any how the police came said that that car had been in an accident the night befour, we ideaded the driver and he then hada fork out the cash as we fought the case an said he could have benn drinking on drugs or whatever and we won........
