hey guys just got an oil change but was wondering what the normal price is for new oil and filter and some of the things on the invoce i dont know what they are

sump plug washer?

sundries?

enviromental charge?

paid £50 for this i know i dident get riped cus i know the guys who done it and i work across the road from them but it makes a hell of a diffrance my car now drives so sweet and dosent smell of burning oil lol.

Sump plug washer, basically the copper ring on the sump plug (the bolt you remove to drain the oil) They usually change it during a service. Was probably pennies though?

Sundries is stuff like brake cleaner I think, paper towels and things they may have used during the service but not necessarily parts you actually get to keep.

The environmental charge will be for disposing of the old oil and filter.

I wouldn't say you were ripped off at all!

Depends on the oil obviously, but I would say its on the pricey side. Do it yourself in the future?

But to be fair, people have to make money somewhere.

even if you d.i.y, the oil, filter etc will be £20. sound fair price to me. saves gettin messy

Yeh I would have done it myself but as you say couldent be botherd to get messy changeing the oil really couldent be any more simply by looks of the haynes manul . So next time I'm gunna do it myself that way I can spend the money I'm saveing on good oil .

sounds about right for a garage. but tbh its simple enough to do yourself and you save £30.

Did mine yesterday, £17.50 for oil and filter, then a trip to the tip with the oil and jobs done. (or keep it for cleaning stuff) Warm oil feels rather good tbf when you drop the spanner in it n have to get it out

50 quid is acceptable for a garage, but i would do it myself everytime, something that easy where you can save 30 quid, isnt something to be scoffed at.

even if you had to buy tools, youd just need a spanner for the sump plug so its feck all,

just dispose of your oil properly or youl lhave the environmental agency dry hump your ass

O rite so u can't just tip it Down the drain lol I wonder If the people who collect my dirty fryer oil from work would take car oil aswell then I don't even have to drive to the dump just leave it at my work lol

I've got the price of an oil change down to just £8...and that's using decent Comma 15/40 Euro-lite

Semi-synthetic oil and Mann and Hummel filters.I buy 25 Litres of oil and 6 filters at a time from work at

cost price and when i break the price down,it's £8 and pennies per oil change.I used the old oil mixed

with a little bit of diesel and run my space heater with it so i don't need to take it to the local tip.I

do an oil change every 3k on my G40 because i can do it so cheaply....

Done 20k since my last oil change!! need to get my arse into gear while it still drives. tut tut tut!
