Dont know much about the 1.4 but I've gotta say...good call using a micra for the scrapage scheme!!!

Looking at the specs on the VW website, the difference between the 1.4TSI and 2.0 isn't that much for 600cc extra. 0-60 time is only 0.8 seconds less for the 1.4!

To me, this says the 1.4 is a pretty good engine.

I presume you're going for a manual?

I would say if you want one, go for it!

do it.

£19100 from vw (£17100 with scrappage) or on the net for a used one its £21000 with 1000 miles on the clock 1 year old??????

bit odd..

I'm 20, wish i could afford that sort of money

Sounds all very well and good, however doesn't the scrappage scheme end soon? and the car that you are "scrapping in" has to have a valid MOT iirc?

The scrappage scheme will be over in 12 months, so no, it will not work.

I'm 21 and might be thinking about be doing it on finance and saving up like shit n selling my mother lol, i thought they were going to extend it a little? you can buy a takeaway delivery micra with a 12month mot round by me for £80 hahaha i think it would just need an mot to get it to the place its getting scrapped lol

couldnt you find someone you trust to get rid of their shitty micra and buy your car and then sell it you?

was thinking about getting the mrs grandma to get rid of her 1.9d 205 (mega shed) and get a rocco and then i could buy it off her for the reduced rate plus a pair of slippers or whatever old folk like?

think it would work?

the 2nd hand ones are prob more expensive if there is a waiting list for new ones, supply+demand etc

I thought the scrappage scheme was only soposed to be a short term thing i didnt think it was going to last another year :? but i have been proven wrong before  any way I'm sure youll be able to talk 2 grand off the list price with out the scrappage scheme ;)

i have probably heard wrong but i thought someone said because we are deeper into a recession than 1st thought it would last longer, if not I'm sure in 12months time i can buy a used one at a decent price i wanna keep the polo n have the rocco for a daily n play with ideas for the polo n hone my skills or lack of lol you need to own the car you scrap for 12months so if it ends i wont buy a shed and save up longer lol

i probably will get another idea soon n completely change my mind but its so tempting!!!

You better order it now, 9 month wait at the mo!!!!!

ah ha i was right about the 2nd hand prices then!

Yeah like people have already said the scrappage scheme will be other by then. I've heard that the existing amount is due to run out soon, like the next couple of months. So even if they extend it, it's extremely unlikely to be for another 12 months.

Micra might be the wrong car to pick, they go crazy for them at auction round here. Honestly if it was a KA it would be worth half the price of a micra in the same condition! only seems to be for the square mid 90's ones.

Get your parents to remortgage their house. Loads of mothers do it for their X5s and Discos, there are plenty of companies advertising on telly during office hours who are willing to sort it all out for you,its easy - just tell them they deserve a holiday and you're sorted.

I have forgotten how funny you are!!!!!

To take advantage of the scrappage, you'll have to buy a new one. And as said, its only a short term thing. Though if the ecconomy doesnt pick up, they may well continue it

hmm well, the official deadline for scrappage is feb next year or 300,000 units, which the quota at the current rate will run out by the end of October.
