Another case of terrible insurers

Featured Replies

Well I had an accident on the 9th of June. Someone drove into the back of my mk1 golf.

The car was still road worthy after replacing a light cluster and putting on a new bumper but is still a little

Right off.

I drive a Mk1 Golf GTI, and am insured with Admiral.

On the 9th June, I had a gentleman crash into the back of me. For some reason he decided to put the claim towards his insurance first, despite being at fault and myself having a completely independant witness (she stopped to offer help), so naturally when I got home, I phoned my insurance just to inform them that I had an accident, not at fault and that I would only claim if liability was decided my way. Otherwise I would not claim, as my car would be written off due to age.

Well, I've had a problem with Admiral, as they said they have sent a witness statement out to the witness on the 16th of June, several weeks later and 2 copies, she still hasnt recieved it, so 2 months later, the claim is still outstanding!

Whats worse is next.

I am also insured on a Mk2 Polo Coupe S, I am not driving this car at the minunte but it needed to be insured so i could legally drive it to pre-arranged MOT tests.

Well the polo is insured with Performance Direct, underwritten by Highway Agencies. They have just sent me a letter telling me they are cancelling my insurance, no reasoning, nothing!

So I phone them up to find out that because of the Claim on the Golf (Which according to the Highway Agencies, the Claims database says nothing but a date, and liability - me at fault apparently) so in that case, they will no insure me.

I found this shocking to be honest, that Admiral hadnt kept me up to date with the case status.

So off I went on the blower to Admiral, and they informed me that the case is still outstanding, and they are still waiting on a witness statement.

They also informed me that Highway are bullshitters, and the claims database shows more details than just the claim date and liability.

Admiral told me that the Claim Class was 02 - Non fault damage recovery with a recovery reserve of just over £1k.

Now upon speaking to Highway agencies, they completely backtracked on thier original statement and said the information they recieved was from Admiral.

Bullshitters everywhere mate!!!

This is only the tip of iceberg, I already lost faith with insurance companies a few years ago when a gentleman crashed into my polo g40. He refused to reply to any of his insurers literature, so his insurers decided to close the case without informing me! WTF!

So i was left with 50/50 claim and lose my no claims, or just write it off! which was a no brainer because i had then sold the car.

I have completely lost faith and really dont know what to do know, I'm upset that I cant even do remedial repairs on the Golf in the meantime while i wait for the claim to pan out.

Jokes.

Anyway avoid Highways Agencies at all costs. I still think they have a personal vendetta against me because I claimed when my Green Golf set on fire. to be honest the 600 quid they paid me was an insult especially since i didnt want some measly pennies, i wanted my 3 grand golf back.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i hate insurance companies, what is the actual point

Ye my claim is still outstanding too and my insurance is due at the end of the month.

The £300 payout i got was a courtesy by his insurance company until things were proven, 4 months later and nothing he still claims that he made no contact with my car, despite the fact that my front passenger rim was marked with paint off his bumper, a fact that the insurance assessor noted in his report, plus the police never made a incident report for him leaving the scene of the accident as they couldn't have cared less.

the police really dont care mate, i phoned them up to report the accident and they said that i actually didnt need to report it as both parties stopped (iirc from the highway code, all accidents must be reported within 48 hours), the police said a traffic cop would phone me back.

that was two months ago, so obviously dont give a poop.

I wouldnt have accepted a partial payout from the insurance company although that in itself is as though they are stating liability was thier clients, else why would they pay anything?

Our insurance system really needs a shake up and the independant omsbudsman really needs to start cracking some skulls

you mean like stopping Quinn Direct from charging £5000 for a £400 car.

its off the chain now! my renewal quote for the golf is 300 quid up from last year.

but at least the crashbots insurance has expired now, thats 1 years no claims for 171 quid.

i will have a years from admiral come the 28th of august, but its in pending at the moment while the case is open, its them who have put the premium on my golf at 900 quid now!

and as I'm driving the polo as a daily now, i need to try and find cheap insurance for that by wednesday because thats the date performance direct have decided to cancel my insurance. sigh
