alrighty I'm new to the forum and I'm needing some help

my flatmate has a 03 polo 12v and it will not start

he went to start it this morning and it would not turn over at all, he tried to jump and bump start the car but there was no joy at all

i have just tried to start the car just now and it is turning over but will not fire, i cant hear the fuel pump priming which would suggest the immobiliser has taken a bitch fit

however when you stop turning the engine over the oil light starts flashing with a couple of beeps even though there is plenty of oil in the engine

the car had a service a couple of weeks ago and is running spot on with no prior warning of failiure

just went back down to the car and pulled the plugs all three are getting a spark but they are black as hell and caked in fuel

I'm starting to think either there is a sensor knackered or the timing might have jumped a tooth which could explain why its getting fuel and spark but not firing, there is alot of fuel in the cylinders as well

tbh mate sounds to me that the timing has jumped due to the tentioner breaking as its a common fault on those engines and a dear job if you cant do it your self
