Just got my debadged grill delivered, gave it a wash 'n' wax 'n' polish. Yes...my paintwork is in a state, but I'm hoping to touch it up when i start my new job.

Thanks, really quite new to the whole vw scene, so any suggestions are welcome. Plans for the future include a false floor with mounted sub and hidden amp/wires etc., Colour coded door handles and other bits and pieces, recondition solitudes; maybe polished, a bit lower, (cant go too low due to ridiculous speed bumps where i live) and smoothed tail. AMbitious for someone who has no idea what they are doing.

Wheels are in a state to be fair, bought it like it, kurbed to all hell! Stripping them down, shaving back the ground metal and mirror polishing them sounds like a plan.

Thanks polomon, yes, my minds made up about the mirror polish. They are the sickest wheels ever. I remember looking at that car before i bought my polo, must have been before he had the solitudes though. Now all i need to do is go about the mammoth task of getting mine like that :/

Did he buy them like it or did he get them refurbed?

Reading through the thread, i think he had standard 16v rims to start, but i may have overlooked the solitudes before lol. Anyways, I'm'a gettin' me some shiny wheels :L

Starting my false floor build on friday, have all the materials I'll need apart from the trim, what shall I use? Photos will be uploaded on Friday when I get started, hints n tips?

O.K. its nearly 8.00, and i'm gonna be starting on boot build today :) Needless to say, this is an amateur job, and i have know idea what I'm doing, soo, this thread may become comical soon with the pic ill be uploading :L

On a side note, ordering up some pressed plates today, should arrive sometime next week, is the ebay shop craftyplates reputable?

Half way through my build, picture update time.

First off, I managed to rope in some help from my grandad, he used to be a builder so build quality should be a bit better than i thought.

Boot before, note the sub, this is sub i will be using for the build:

The original box for the sub was too deep and had angled edge, I had to modify it so it was a right angled box and alot shallower to fit in the spare wheel well.

Next I cleared the boot, taking out the carpet, and sawing off the screw for the spare wheel. I cut out a piece of the carpet I took out to use as sound proofing, and providing a base for the sub box so it doesn't rattle.

Next we started building a frame to support the false floor. Unfortunately, it started raining as we were doing this so things will start again later on today if the weather lets up, or tomorrow morning.

Plans for the morning, maybe later:

- Finishing frame.

- Cutting ply floor to shape.

- Insert sub and wire amp up.

- Securing floor.

Have to wait for the trim to be delivered before its completely finished.

Had a few technically difficulties, (my gramps managed to cut the hole in the wrong place) but finally back on track, waiting for my carpet to be delivered and thats all that needs doing now...Pics to follow shortly
