Engine noise comes through speakers....!

Featured Replies

i've just installed new door speakers, 10cms, an amp and a sub in my mk4. Sounds awsome when the engine is off, but when I turn on the engine the sound distorts when I rev the engine and the sub lets out bass tones; the more I rev the louder they get. I've sent all the speaker wires, RCA cable, remote wire down the passenger side of the car....and the power cable is going down the middle. I have an idea that its the remote cable that is causing the interference....is this the problem???? if not how do I get rid of this sound??!?!?

Thanks in advance...!

yeah i'll do that tomorrow and see how it sounds....any other suggestions????

did you run the speaker cable and the rca down the same side as the power cable

if yes then run your rca and speaker cable down the opposite side

also have you got a good clean bare metal earth (please tell me you have not earthed it on the tailights!!)at a seat belt bolt for example

I've got a good earth (not the taillights!)....the speaker cable and the rca are down one side....the power cable is down the other.....but the remote wire leading to the battery is running with the speaker and rca cable......so I'm going to run that with the power as well as check the earth tomorrow and see what happens....

What's wrong with earthing in the tail light area? 2 of my amps have been earthed there for over a year and had no problems?

the remote wire will be fine with the rca and speaker

the tailight is not a good earth as it is very thin metal and the bolt holding the light on has a very small area of contact with the metalwork and on the the actual light itself it is mounted in plastic and will eventually work its way loose

all sorted...new earth point! thanks for the help!!

I have had this same problem using said earth point where should I put it an how? Cheers

bolt it to a seatbelt bolt

or if you have to as a last resort drill a 3mm hole in the floor somewhere and sand it back to bare metal and screw it to that

OR!

Go to the boot, put the rear seats down and look for the 2 big bolts that hold down the rear bench, unscrew with allan key place earth wire over the bolt then tighten back up best place for earth i recon :D
