Hey, i have a standard polo 6n bout 1996 model, i have replaced the head unit. But now find that my speakers are lacking, they are just standard.

Does anyone know what the best speakers would be to get for my polo, has 4 speakers atm, 2 in either front door and 2 in the dash. How do I remove these and put new ones in, and which ones should I put it? Will it invlove a lot of re wiring and removing of panels?

What would be the best configuration for me to go for, money no object atm. Just want good quality speakers and a good sound when its loud! And how should I go about it?

you need to look at a set of 6.5" components

the tweeter goes in the dash location and the mid goes in the door

you just pop off the grille on the door and dash to fit the new ones

as a starter you could look a jbl,fusion,hertz components

Thanks for the reply, how do i replace the tweeters then in the dashboard does the grill there come out easily as well? How do i pop it out, any tools i should use? Do you know what size 6.5" components i should get?

the grilles in the dash just pop off with a screwdriver

the fusion components will be fine

the are very easy to wire up and come with full fitting instructions

dont buy fusion there shite mate spent a wee bit more and get jbls hounestly

yea there the new est jbls I've got the 6x9 of those gd quality solder u will get a better and loner lasting

theres nothing wrong with those fusion components

yes they are entry level but will sound absolutely fine if fitted correctly and the crossover is adjusted accordingly (if neccessary to) also they will sound a lot better if run off an amp

i have had a lot of experience with fusion over the years as i was involved in building their extreme spl beetle plus i was sponsored by them in 2004

never had any issues with any fusion gear in all the years i have supplied and fitted it

i'm not saying jbl are crap they are not

there is no real difference between these fusions and an equivelant equally priced components

for example compare the fusion en-cm650 with the jbl gt5-650c

you will see that the fusions have a better frequency response ( fusion 53Hz-22kHz)compared to ( jbl 70Hz – 20kHz) and are more powerful (fusion 70 rms) (jbl 40 rms)

so the jbl's are still better you say????

He never said fusion have been around for 20 years, he said he's been in the industry for 20 years.

It seems your just talking a load of bullshit mate, because you have nothing to back up your claims.

Personally, I HATE fusion products, because I don't like the green theme at all and most of their products look ugly, and when I think Fusion, JBL, Vibe I think Halfords, but that's just my preference.

That does not mean that they don't produce good quality sound though.

it is only the entry level fusion equipment that is green now the reactor and power plant ranges are all grey/black

everyone is entitled to their own subjective opinion

at the end of the day we are trying to give the guy some advice regarding his choice of speaker its up to him if he wants to take the advice of either a 20 year veteran of car audio and security with a proven european competition background or someone who THINKS they know it all

Back to the question asked in the first place.

I added two sony 6.5 speakers to the parcels shelf as well as the 4 at the front. I found it was easiest that way, just another option?

Cheers thanks for that, i was thinking about getting some 6x9s now on a parcel shelf and getting an amp and mayb a sub as well, just wandered if anyone knew if i should still replace the speakers and tweeters if I do that, does anyone know what the rms is of the standard speakers in the front doors of a polo 6n 1998?

In my car I have the following

Alpine ida-x001 ipod headunit

Infinity Kappa 65.7cs components upfront powered by JBL 2 channel

Alpine Type R subwoofer powered by monoblock kenwood amp

Loadsa sound deadening, and 4 gauge wiring split into 2 x 8gauge

Sounds wicked.

the standard speakers are phillips and are 10 watts rms

if you plan on getting a sub then don't bother with the 6x9's as the will in actual fact cancel out some of the sub bass

personally i would get a set of components for the front and an amp with a sub that will sound fine

I'm interested in buying some new speakers for my car too, the standard ones are pretty shocking.

I don't want anything too fancy, just something average, that you don't think "fucking hell that's shit" when you use them like I do at the moment.

Reckon the Fusion ones are decent enough?

I am looking to buy some vibes thats 2x speakers with 2x tweeters that are 115 rms, i was going to put them in and then if later on i want to add an amp i can, but should i buy an amp that matches 115 rms or that is slightly under it? Also should i get an amp that just powers a sub if i get a sub as well, or should it be 2 way and power both sub and speakers and if so what size amp should i get and sub? Any ideas anyone?

Which speakers should I get, anyone tested, or have any of these?
