Hi, can anybody help me?!

I am replacing the front wishbones on my 2001 polo, but I don't know the torque settings when tightening the bolts back up?!

I have also just bought some alloys with out realising the width of the rim, they are 15" fix racing alloys with a 7j rim and a et35, I have put the alloys on the car without tyres an they just about fit, I have allowed clearance for the tyres aswell but I was wondering if a 195/45/15 will rub on the rear wheel arch when going over bumps?! Can someone please help me?!

haynes manual for torque settings.

shouldnt be too bad with a 15x7 rim with a 195/45/15 tyre, et35 is very near or the same as your original wheels that are fitted, an offset of say et25 would stick out 10mm further.

if its a non gti, the shocks/springs may have too much movement which means over bumps you may get scruabbage, stiffer springs and shortened shocks should mimimise body contact

Thanks for the speedy reply, I have for a haynes maurl on the way but it's due to arrive towards the end of the week and I am going away on Saturday so I was really looking to get the car sorted out for middle of week so I know that it's going to be ready for the weekend!

And thanks for the advice on the shocks, it's not te GTi, but are the GTi shocks available for the stand polo?! Thanks again!

you could put gti shocks and springs on the polo for cheap from someone who has a GTI and has put coilovers on them

failing that they are cheap coilovers and uprated shocks/springs kits.

personally tho mate, i would get the tyres on them and see what its like, before you start ripping the car apart again to fit the new suspension.

there are some online haynes manual but i cant find one for your model, only older.

id would say at a complete guesstimate to do them up to 80nm then when your haynes gets here, re tighten (or loosen) to spec

ps. glad to hear youve ordered a haynes unlike most noobs on here and actually have the balls to get your hands dirty and have a do yourself
