^^ Agreed. In my case:

1) 'modified suspension' (Custom springs with suitably matched sports dampers).

2) Water-cooled saw was used.

3) This is a point I've always pushed particularly hard - spring length still exceeds damper seat length,so springs are still secure when axle is elevated from the ground.

well springs usally have a flat spot where they sit into the strut and obviously it wont sit rite when you take off that flat part....

its a mot failure also, so surely that shows its quite unsafe.

lowering springs have been designed to be harder and sit correctly in the slot so if it does bounce up it would not move outa place.

and yes i have been told that its a bad idea but this infomation has come from alot of experienced mechanics and only mechanics.

the only way it will fail an mot is if the spring dislocates

and not all springs have a flat section at the end
