Pete's mk3 saloon

Featured Replies

Hello all :-)

I Did have a brief thread somewhere, but since i mainly troll the classifieds i didnt bother updating, but il keep tabs on this one lol.

Thought id share some pics of my loon. Its a work in progress... but its getting there

Heres how i bought the car back in april iirc, from a friend, Jamie.

how he bought it..

how he had it before selling to me (minus the banded steels)

loon.jpg

Its a 1.3 NZ mpi. ran really well stock and now with a few tweaks runs even better..

Here's a few pics from when i got it home.. there was a few naughty stone chips and paint touch up's on the bonnet so i opted for a bonnet bra for a cheapo fix, that hides that problem (for now!) and i added a spanking new debadged grille that came with the car, down to the old one being a bit rough!

DSC_0127-1.jpg

Since it looked a little rough around the edges on the steels, i bought some..and got them freshly powdercoated satin black

Centra Turbo's 14x6J (et 35)

DSC_0150-1.jpg

The centra's were a good fix to lose the rusty steels but the car was always destined for something small and something wider!

Tony100 on here hooked me up with some spanking new Revolution Modulars 13x7J (et20) with 175/50 Continental contisports for a great price!

Before sticking them on, i decided to do a bit of tampering... mk2 8v gti brake setup & goodridge hoses.

stuck a gt cam in (which wasnt without its problems) ... but all was soon well! polished handle inserts, gt steering wheel, cia, powdercoated (red) rocker,

Here's a few updated pics on the revo's...

couple from Inters 09

Since the standard exhaust and suspension were absolutely shagged and then some, the next bits to come were a 4 branch manifold and decat, full twin silenced exhaust made up by exhaust uk aswel as bilstein gas shocks and 60mm springs...

Heres a couple more things that should be sorted before the month is out

PPP stage 2 subframe (no pic handy sure you all know what they look like, lol)

DSC_0027-3.jpg

and these arrived today!

G-laderseite arb bushes

DSC_0026-2.jpg

should be adding a mk2 gti afm + induction kit before the week is out also

I'm starting to stockpile bits now as I'm going to be doing a gt/abd conversion within the next month or so .. il get some pics up of that process when it happens

and when the subframe is fitted

Updates as an when! Comments welcome chaps

lol, funny you should say that terry.. il be getting some pics today after I've fitted the new induction setup - just arrived, bought from adrenalin seeker.

As for the chequers i couldnt agree more. The car is in for a few paint bits this fortnight and thats top of the list!! its there because theres a bit of lacquer peel which needed covering (previous owner)

How much did you pay for your Revo Splits? I'm currently waiting for them to get back to me with a price, taking forever :(

And was it Revolution you got them off?

Thanks Luke

As promised, heres a few pics of the engine bay..

I diggin the contrast at the minute so the red/body colour combination will be developed :-) gearbox will be done after the subframe is fitted.

Your bay looks mighty tidy and i bet the subframe and polybushes help no end ..

Thanks man!

The subframe is yet to be fitted, I've got everything to do it now.. it just needs doing. The car handles fairly good at present but il know as soon as its fitted as il be taking it straight to some twisties lol .. il report back providing i dont end up in a farmers field :-D .. the g-laderseite blocks are chunky monkeys so i imagine it to be alot stiffer once fitted for sure...... since talking to andy from PPP, it should make a nice new jacking point also! save the sills innit :-p
