Insurance...

Featured Replies

I'm stumped with insurance.

I'm 17, and I've been driving for a couple of months.

I pay about £1,800 to insure my 1999 1.4CL (MK4). Which is completely standard.

I got a quote to insure it if its lowered by 40mm all round, which was pretty much £3,000!!

How do any of you afford to insure modified cars?

By being old :p

Go with a different company, don't declare mods, become a named driver, add your parent as a second driver, loads of options

I got a quote from Zurich for £26,000 to insure my car last year without mods.

I'm currently having this trouble, although I'm 21 and only a mk3 1l and cheapest I can find is £850ish

I payed £2500 for my GT last year when i was 17 with wheels and lowering declared through Adrian Fluc. TPFT and policy in my own name. Now its about £1900 for my E30 with the same mods as above but with a more reputable company and with more extras.

And my postcode is in a band D i think which is band in the middle.

I'm paying £3000 for my G40 standard on my gfs insurance (she's older).

edit: and i'm 18

best one i found was quinn insurance, for my 1L mk3 totally standard, was £4400 ! hahahaha

actually folks i could do with some help here too. My insurance is due for renewal, I'm heavily modified but my mrs doesnt think the quate we got from direct line is low enough so if anyone could recommend me an insurer thats good for mods and preferably with 2 car discount id appreciate the help very much.

well we need to know what the insurance quote from direct line is first?? and how old are you??

Go on moneysupermarket.co.uk. Therel no doubt be a cheaper one on there.

Brentarce is the way forward for modded cars.

Or HIC (they use the same people as Adrian Flux)

for my civic £29 For my polo £39 per month on my girlfriends insurance (who is 31, and I'm so glad she doesnt come on here, shed kill me for telling you that, I'm 28 if that matters) We have protected no claims and dual car discoount. I dont think well get better than that seeing as my car has all the usual mods, nothing on the engine, yet. But she seems to think thats expensive, but then what she knows about cars she could write in a stamp.

Strangely, that's exactly what they quoted me on the rocco.

Insurance is going up!

at 18 i paid £650 for a GT, at 20 they wanted £1600. same amount of no claims!

i am now insured with brent acre, i have a mk2 coupe s, fully comp is £750 with any Mod i could possibly want as long as the engine stays under 80bhp to the fly. so GT lump I'm thinking.

every other company i tried was £1000+

but the funny thing is, when i was 19 i insured a renault 5 GT Turbo for £1000????????????

dont understand how it works

all companies like money supermarket and compair.com etc, are more expensive, if you get a quote from them, call the company direct so you dont have to pay middle man fees

me 2 dude.. everybody was qouting me around 1600+

manadged to get it for 1200 so still beend shafted like buts its best i could get

I'm 22 with 2 years no claims

i think brentacre do it on power bands!

plus u get all your mods included, i can literally do any mod i want!

yeah they give u a limit mine is 230 :) that should be fine untilll i decide to get it mapped

i need ot re-insure my car on the 19th and i wanted to lower it, but to renew its £1170 fully comp direct line with 1 years no claims as i will be 18 :D

but if i decliar coils the cheapest is £1800!! so now i have to stay like a monsta truck >:(

its a pain when you are young but thats life. i only ever put alloys on my car when i was younger.. not so expensive to declare.

When you can, go with brentacre. you can do anything you want as long as bhp of car doesnt change, and all F.O.C

Brentacre upped my limit from 120bhp to 180bhp and said it didn't make any difference to the price... Although I was never going to get near 180 on my valver!
