3 points to come

Featured Replies

basically i got 3points and a fine for doing 7mph over the 30mph limit, this is soon to be on my licence..

Just wondering what happens to my insurance?

Do i tell them that I've now got 3points? or just not tell them? what would happen if i didnt?

do they just put my insurance up next month, or at the re-newal date?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me, thanks in advance.

Notify them to cover your bases, but it generally won't make a difference until renewal.

It should be at renewal, just like when you make claim in an accident.

well I've never claimed so i dont really know how it work, i take it the points will go on my licence and they will ring me soon after and tell me the score?

yes you give your licence in at the cop shop when you take your documents. they will send it back with the points written on in biro. or at least they did last time i got some

!

you have to tell your insurers, but they wont be interested until renewal. might not make any difference at all though. dont worry too much

haha

Okay, well it will still go down then on the renewal as i will have 2years no claims and be 20 instead of 1years no claims and being 19.

I got a leaflet through the post, one of the FAQ's was.. "Can i pay the £60 fiine in installments" haha made me chuckle anyway

alright where did u get caught ? thats abit gay yeah u just will tell them when u renew

  • 3 weeks later...

with the points thing u have to send you are licecne back to dvla and they print them on there and after 3 years u can have them taken off

ok heres a lil trick to delay your points. When you get your fine pay it by cheque. If its £30 send a cheque for £30.01 then you will receive a check for £0.01 but DONT cash it. Basicly no points can be added until all transactions are complete. I no a few people who have done this and as far as i no they havnt had trouble with points yet. good luck dude

mate it doesnt work. your just delaying the inevetable, and there going to get pissed off with you fucking them about. just wait till about a year later when the court summons pops on your door mat

Its all wank, you cant get away from it by pissing them around on the fine.

i got 3 points the other day for parking on a zigzagged line while running into tesco for a can of relentless

most expensive relentless I've ever had @ £61.11

i dont feel too bad though because a friend of mine at uni told me the other day he got 3 points and a £600 fine through the post for doing something similar. either way lesson learned haha

Not sure this is true but when you can have the points removed from your licence you have to pay to get them taken off?either 10 or 20 quid can't remember realy was just listenin 2 some1s convo at work

I believe that is the case if you want them removed after 3 years (after 3 years they no longer count towards your total of 12, but they stay on your license for 4 years, after which time they are remove FOC.) Hope that made sense.
