What are people's opinion on oversized wheel trims?

Featured Replies

Hi, although people say it's my car I should do what I want, we are all guilty of thinking what other people will think when we mod our cars to some extent, so was just wondering what peoples take was on oversized wheel trims.

My oranges need a refurb, but not worth it as my RSL's will be here soon, but not on for edition, so was just wondering what people reckon?

I think it could look quite cool, as I run very low so would have a nice tucked air ride like appearance.

Just wanted some opinions before I spent some of my hard earned cash on them.

I'd be going for an audi monoblock style.

Cheers,

Indy

I just think that it wouldn't look right rolling up with bog standard wheels, with nothing done to them at all.

Refurb the steels, not fond on oversized wheel trims myself.

Would cost too much and be too much effort to do that. I don't have a spare set to run whilst I refurb the steels so that ain't really an option.

Might have to just stick it out then and run oranges!

Is that BigJon with the white mk4?

I think it looks quite good, but people worried me when they said thye could misalign whilst moving, but surely with 4 cable ties this shouldn't happen?

/\ yeah i remembered his, I liked them :)

Only negative is you'll see the cable ties, but better than seeing steels with rusty lips and bits of black dirt stuck onto them!

I dont think I have ever seen this, It sounds like it might look good.

didnt jon have problems with his tho where it dug in to the tyre and thats why he removed them ........... ( i think)

I've made my mind up, forget the trims, I'll do it the proper way and just roll up to edition on the oranges for the last time before they get replaced :D

Also, it spares me up some cash to buy some cleaning products or something useful :)

can either break the clips and cable tie them on, or stick the new trims onto your originals, but this would make them stick out a mile

these must look so crap when your driving, how on earth are you going to get them to sit perfectly in the center?

No that would be pointless as I've got my alloys on the way, just need a temp measure.

Plus stretch on skinny wheels is gay!

16's are also gay lol.

but you want to make your car look like its got 16" wheels on it? :?

By getting hubcaps I don't ave to go higher, and I won't have any scrubbing issues. Getting 16's will mean I have to run the actual car 3 inches higher.

Also, as said before, was just a temp measure which would've cost 20 quid, I don't wanna go round buying more wheels when my alloys are on the way!

Al-Polo isn't that low though in terms of close to the ground, but he runs 16" alloys, what the point of this thread was what do people think about running hub caps as opposed to running my orange steels. Actually buying new wheels is outta the question, as my wheels are on the way already, I just wanted a temp way to hide the peeling of paint of my oranges for edition!
