dont believe there is mate. Although some cars ie the mini cooper have their sidelights in the lower half of their bumper so look like fog lights but the bulbs are alot dimmer than fog lights. possibly tint the lenses hence stopping more light coming through, that way the police could possibly think them just to be sidelights. But why drive with them on in the first place if there is no use for them?? I mean its surprising how much glare comes off fog lights and its distracting to other drivers. Not only that you dont have the police to worry about then.

No chance mate. I was pulled and given a 30quid on the spot fine.

I tried to explain that the illumination in my old car was broken so I couldn't tell they were on, I even showed him ffs, but he was like, "ohhh" I had to sit in the back of his car for ages aswel, and a bunch of my mates just happend to be walking past, proper embarassing.

AND THENNNN THE FUCKIN idiot, goes to me, "is that your girlfriend then" I felt like smacking him because it was actually my mum sat in the car with me!

It was dark, and I didn't realise they were on. I thought it was just my regular dipped that were on.

They don't warn you, you either accept the fine, or don't accept it and go to court. It's like a parking ticket, 14 days to respond etc etc.

I personally hate people who drive round with sidelights and fogs on.

Alot of the time though it is ignorance. For example, someone I know, thought they were "sports spot lamps" that were on the car because it was a Cupra R, she didn't realise they were actually fogs!

i run with them on for style , think il drill a hole in the top and drop a penut bulb in and connect to side lights to gently iluminate them , the law states u are allowd to run eiither yellow or clear lights in the forward direction , does any one know what piece of the amendment its in that states its ilegel so i can have my law student freind find me and anyone who wants their fogs on a loop hole

Fog lights should only be used when visibility is under a certain distance, can't remember it off the top of my head though!

you say youve got them on for style, but by putting a smaller bulb in you would be defeating the objective as you just wouldnt see them v well plus it would look pants. i mean when you see the mini with the sidelights on and dipped beams the sidelights look shite.

but i can understand why people drive with their sidelights on during the day as if your driving along the m25 or m4 or just generally any road on the way to work or the shop or whatever some twonk thats just on auto pilot is more likely to see you. I mean i didnt get it a first and it really bugged me but i certainly noticed that when i was cruising down the motorway i notice cars with sidelights on sooner than cars that aint especially when you take a glancing look at your mirrors.

Fogs point straighter, so travel further and more dazzling to other road users, so should only be used in low visibilty.

NO, because they are still foglights. It doesn't matter how they are alligned, you didn't get pulled because your fogs were badly adjusted, you got pulled because you had them on in the first place.

i wasent fined just warned , if i look into the angle that driving lights are and the watages of the bulbs and have it declaird legal next time plod pulls me i can wack out the paper to say its legal and be untouchable

its 100 metres for front fogs i believe and 50 metres for rear fogs, dont ask me why its less for rears can just remeber reading it somewhere.

When my mate got pulled for having his fogs on all, and they said "are you having trouble seeing tonight as you have your fogs on" and he just got let off with a warning ,

Yeah a lot of prople think they are driving lights and not fogs! really does annoy me when you get blinded by people having them on someone i know with a van just puts his lights on full beam until they pass him ,if they have fogs on !

If you were just warned don't make a fuss then, just don't do it again.

THIS IS NEVER GONNA GET THROUGH TO YOU. Aslong as they are still white, and emitting light, or yellow for that matter, you will still get pulled over! Police will think they are fogs, they are still fogs, MOT centres won't do no dodgey signing of papers for you saying they are legal.

Basically, don't run them, running fogs looks shit, get yourself some HID's, and run them through the day and night.

why bother going through all of this hassle to drive with fog lights on anyways??? it looks stupid and only attracts more attention of the plod anyways and they will look for something else they can do you for, especially if you came across being quite arrogant. Not only that you cant change the bulbs in a fog light, once a fog light goes you need to buy a new one as they are water tight to stop misting on the inside of the lens. So simply changing the wattage of bulb and the angle of projection wouldnt be good enough. Not only that if you did want to go through all of this hassle and change the fogs and put driving lights on the car when you do need your fog lights you wont have them. Why not just obey the law and use the lights for what they are designed for.

Well you could convert them to sidelights, so there is just a tiny L.E.D light in them. Anything that seems like it emits the road ahead will be deemed as fogs I'm afraid. Sidelights don't light up the road ahead, so if you got them to work like sidelights it could be fine, but don't put anything past coppers!

You can change the bulbs in foglights, not sure how, but I know a few people who have converted their fogs to HID fogs, and changed the bulbs to orange ones to get the US look.

I'm takining about 6n valver ligths , u can unscrew the back to chage bulbs and u can adjust them on the side 1 for hight and 1 for side to side

Would make no difference whatsoever to you getting pulled. As I've explained above. Like you said, you don't want brightness, so just wire some little L.E.D's in there.

TBH, I think what your doing is causing hassle for yourself for something that won't actually look that good, as it ain't what the lenses were made for!
