eh? thats werid never had nout like that happen to me......

yeah , if no 1 understood basically . i send a pm and cant send another untill 3mins...

very odd indeed, duno the answer but i dont have that problem atall

is it because you are a forum user and not a member?

Potential to spam?

I don't know just a guess.

Paid up members dont have to wait between pm's

Standard members have to wait to stop spam things from signing up and taking advantage :)

i had a feeling it t'was that but didnt want to look a fool for saying it if i was wrong

yeah forum users have to wait, as previously said.

the reason being there was a number of spam pms sent to many members (randomly generated i think) but it was put in place to stop spam pms

basically pay the fiver = no more waiting :D

You do on edition, not on here?

What's annoying on edition it's like, you cannot send another PM until 2.28, even though it's like 2.30 lol

Its to protect spam!

I have this too :(

To many spammers sending junk, having it this way means there isn't loads of spam from bots.

That's about it yeah. Basically, if a spammer signs up and starts posting threads, we normally jump on them and shut them down pretty damn quick, especcially if people click the report button on their posts. Case in point, yesterday I had a spammers posts deleted and them removed from the forum in under five minutes of them posting. If a spammer signs up and runs a script to send one pm to each of out users (18,000+?), but doesn't post anything, it's going to go unoticed for a while, in which time the load they're putting on the server would probably break something. So, we work on the assumption that most spammers won't join Club Polo just to spam people.

I know it might sound stupid to a lot of you, but I do some website work for a peer support group, the site has a lot of fragile people on it. Their forum runs on invisionfree. A spammer signed up and pm'd indecent material to all the site members, some of whom didn't know about spam on forums, they took it as personal communication and were really upset by it :x
