6N sideskirts help...

Featured Replies

I managed (like a idiot) to drop my car off the standard jack the other day and it put a massive rip/dent in the side skirt...

heres a pic just to explain easier...

i cant really think of an easy way of pulling it out ( maybe someone could shed some light?)

so i was thinking is there any kind of side skirts that i can stick on to cover it up? i heard that some people have put 6n2 gti side skirts on the 6n but i dont know if this is true, do they fit??

does anyone know anything about sideskirts or where to get them, i looked on ebay but they are all big body kit style ones which i hate, i just want something that look original as possible.

Thanks in advance,

Steve :-D

i have a damaged sill from something similar, it didnt drop off the jack, but it slipped and the weight shifted and now i have a rip on the underside of the sill :(

need to get it sorted out asap,

anyone know where you get these repair kits from??

I've done nearly the exactly the same on my 6n2 but was from a rock/boulder, going to get afew quotes over the next week from bodyshops unless theres easier/cheaper way ???

could you just clean the area up and fill it or fibre glass it if its not too bad or has it got to be welded??

lol nearly the same picture angle there! lol such a pain in the ass!!

anyone know about the 6n2 gti side skirts???

The 6n2 gti side skirts will prob fit one way or the other, they might not be a straight fit but you can work round that lol

I can't find any gti skirts atm :( lol

i went to a local bodyshop today and got quoted £160 for mine, thats knock it back into shape etc, then drill a hole to pull it back out, then fill it and sprayed, apparently the paint is pretty expensive coz u cant buy in small quantities. also said u can fill if you want cheap DIY job doing yourself, but dunno if i can live with a dent. prob just going to save up and get a gti splitter colour coded at the same time.

put a bolt in then eithe but a slide hammer and pull it back with that the dent will pull back the same as it went in , or tie a rope to a mates toe bar and pull away verry slowly until it pops , once out a easy tiny hole to fill

you can buy paint in 1/4 litres??? is that not a small quantity?? lol but yea id seriously research pulling the dent yourself and then use fibre glas stuff that bridges holes (say it on the tin i know a weld would be stronger lol) then filler and then just take it to you are bodyshop that will make it alot cheaper as youve cut out half the labour costs which these days is the killer!!!

I've got a big dint in my sill aswell, turned into a big curb :(

its not a side skirt its a sill :p

both of mine have dents in them , as said replacement ones from vw are cheap , i got quoted 140 for fitting and spraying so not too bad :)

I have one almost exactly the same as the original poster....

Previous owner jacked it up in the wrong place.... I'm going to try to tap it back then probably fill it and respray.
