The VW Scene

Featured Replies

after getting the last 2 PVW mags and looking on forums etc I'm starting to get really bored of seeing the same cars on the same wheels..

Is anyone out there doing anything different other than slamming a car on BBS Split rims or Bently wheels??

or am I the only one who wants to see something different?

You gotta remember fashion/fads change but things like BBS always work.

I'm going to bring 3 spokes back!

If you want to see something different, stop waiting for other people to do it, and do it yourself!

That's what I'm doing.

You see alot of the same stuff though, because it works, so why change!

I always find that thing in PVW interesting where they show 1 year ago, 5 years ago, and 10 years ago, shows how much the scene has changed!

the VW's on here have been done up so much that they have made a bog standard Polo become more unique!

yeah it seems that every issue theres a few mk2 golfs slammed on bbs splits with either a 1.8t,

conversion or a vr6 conversion and maybe the odd polo or corrardo!

I put 16x9 borbet A's on my polo... which was different, then i got slaughtered for it off kiddies on here... fuck the scene

tbh thats one reason I got the GTi, doesnt need much doing to it I'm not even going to lower it.

Thought I think a Saab 900 Turbo is in the line up for my next big thing :D

this is why i don't buy vw mags, at least if i see the same old shit on vw sites it hasn't cost a me any thing. the only car mags i pay much attention to are PPC and retro cars, they have a nice spread of different styles and types of cars and are much more down to earth and open minded than the likes of pvw, and a lot more focus on the tech side of cars than just how they look. more of a car lovers mag than just some thing you by so you can keep up with the latest trends

i'm looking for a set of 90's style motor sport inspired 15's for my jetta, some thing like all the boy racers used to rock on their novas ect before 17's became the "IN" thing.

i agree, and I'm always different. i have smarties on my roof and multi coloured rim tape! enough said. lol

I'm not part of the VW scene, my car isnt low, smooth or has it got wide wheels. I just like VW's

^^^^ lol so your not thinking of putting a GT or G40 engine in your mk3 then tommy lol thats as scene as going euro.

the veedub scene is boring but its what attracted us too it in the first place

That's why I go for Mk1/2 loons. (Apart from the fact that I love them!)

How many do you see of them in mags?

How many do you see of them in mags?

You don't see them in mags for a reason ;)

Smart idiot arn't you   Yeah I'm gonna stick a GT lump in the car soon or, buy a GT lol. But I think alot of the smooth and Bentley wheels is boring, may look nice, but still boring.

Fuck mags, the closest i get to buyin them is reading them in smiths

My brother will be reppin' 3 spokes on his mk2 square very soon!

I honestly couldn't give a shit about any scene. I have 3 hella grilles because I want 3 hella grilles; there is no peer pressure or conformity involved!

Very harsh Indy :lol::lol:

No need to upset us Mk1 and Loon whores like that :-p

I'm only messing mate. I was actually thinking of you when I made that comment :), because I love your car, which is a loon, but just wanted to make a sarcy comment even though I don't totally agree with what I wrote!

The scene is starting to get boring now, and the mags don't help anyone in the UK by filling half the magazine with American builds with ridiculous paint jobs, or a few mates from a few 'tuning' firms.

The worst bit is the general approach, no one seems to want to build the car on a sensible budget or make it a realistic driving experience. Take chromed engines for example, utter trash!!

This also means many of the people who display their cars don't do half the work. So you get the general quote:

"Yeah well I basically took it down to the Phirm and they did everything and I paid £12000 for a leather TT dashboard which gets all sticky in hot weather, but at the end of the day I just trailer it to shows and I'm fucking amazing for it"

edit: spelling

and then he gets his ass hole licked by thousands of teenage boys up and down the land on internet forums and at shows

Why has no one done a wide arch motorsport mk4 yet like the bergcup style mk3s?

slamming my polo on schmidts instead of bbs lol
