I'm jealous mate, that looks like an absolute minter yet I'm normally not a fan of red cars :p. I do think you need to take that last bit of trim off before the rear wheel arch though, doesn't look right with it on imo...

you cant remove it, well you can, but it leaves 2 holes in the rear arch under it as its clipped in

you need to rob his compos mate, seriously.

and polishing red cars is soooo fulfilling and worthwhile even though its my least fav colour

 yeah Alex is me little bro (well I say little... hes a lanky bugger!) I've still got me A4 which I'm slowly pimping and improving  and the mk1 stayed as I wasnt going to sell it for pennies so I spent another £3k on it  all in the hope of posting some good times at spring GTI next year when its  finally done and back on the road.

me bros might be on comps for a short while if he cant sort the new wheels in time or the dosh for the other little bits that need doing plus the MOT etc...the prob is I know if it goes on the comps I wont get them back

It does loook mint though up close and we had a load of folk ask us about it on the steet. also its showing no signs of fading again yet even though its been left out in the sun and rain etc after the last polish nearly 2 weeks ago, which for some other red vws I've seen is more than enough time to go pink again so we maybe lucky and it my stay red now if looked after.

what a beaut !!

I have a Red 1.0 mk3 also - L reg Polo Boulevard...and similar mileage

Making a red one look good is hard work but great looking afterwards!!

I was also thinking of taking the side bump strips off - are they easy to remove - worried about ruining the paint

- anyways i have a scuff on the passenger door which i need to get sorted first.

I have wheel arch and sill protectors that will go on mine in next few months - need to rub down and clean first.

Alloys sorted - set of classic castellete's - want to drop only 40mm tho - loads of speed bumps in our area..

Thinking or porting mine or just swapping over to 1.3 TB and manifold...to give it a little extra oomph!

Will need to get exhaust sorted also - all costs money!! :(

Good luck with yours keep - us posted with progress on the project!

red Mk3's FTW

i need to get most of mine looking that red however, hella good job!

steal them comp's off your bro :paranoid:

Thanks for the kind words guys!

yeah red is a massive ball ache BUT you get allot out of it after,

rub strips take a bit of effort to get of its a case off pull the stip of initially then use a hair dry and piggle the big bits of rubber and glue then use tar remover and it'll come off, my paint was perfect afterwards!

haha i know what you mean mate moneys nuts I'm leaving the exhaust and just lowering it and getting wheels sorted as much as i would love to rob the mk1's comps seems they wont be used over wint

Well done with the paintwork, it hasnt half come up sweet, also looks sweet on the comps.. keep up the good work dude.
