HID's What Ones To Get ?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buy some HIDS for my Mk4 Polo 16v . Would like a set of 6000k HID Conversion Kit for my beloved Polo as its time to change the lights as the ones i got on atm are poo! .."" Halfords Super Brilliant" ! eyy! .

Does anyone recommend any good HIDS that i should get or could send me website links ? maybe pictures of your car with the HID on ? so i can see how they look .... looking to spend no more then £100! . £80 would be a good price for me ! .. Would want something that has a white light ! Nothing extreme like bluee ! maybe a slight tint would do but nothing to illegal ! that will get me pulled by the police :-D the HIDs must be H7 as i have aftermarket FK headlights !

Cheers Guys !

Check Ebay mate. Plentyyyyyyy on there for cheap prices! In 2007 i bought an 8000k set for my Corsa C for £80 delievered with 3 years warranty. You'll find many like that  had no problems with them either!

This is the same place i got mine. My work net doesn't let me access Ebay but i remember this was the shop i got it from.

if you want white then go for 4300K ones. But make sure that you get the lamps aligned and beam pattern checked properly, my mk3 passed its MOT with H4 bi-xenon's fitted as the beam pattern was perfect, this may not be the same for the fk lights or even standard mk4's.

Are you using the HID on dipped or full beam?

With full beam use they will only last a few months as there not designed to be switched on and off constantly, hence why most cars have a xenon dip but use a halogen full beam.

try this guy: Xenons Online

He has a presence here on CP, i have one of his kits as do a few others here, and can safely say that in a year i have had no problems with any part of the setup. and as for fitting it took maybe 5/10 minutes.

Thanks for the reply guys ! Cymro- that link you sent me xenones Online is a website that I've actually had a look at before and there HIDs look good ! and not to expensive .. Is this where you bought yours from ? When it comes to using the new lights yeah i will be using the HID on dipped beam not full . but i geuss I'm going to have to use the full when visibilty is low right ?? . with the FK lights that i have now you can actually adjust the beam, same as you would with the standard mk4 lights which is good so hopefully it wont dazzle anyone ! .. So for me which ones would you advice dude ?

Are they FK Powerlooks?

If so they'll be LHD headlights, in which case you'll need to aim them carefully (ie low) so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers.

Quite easy to adjust, just turn the knobs to aim them down but don't go too low or you'll lose light.

I've been running 6000K HIDs through FK Powerlooks for well over two years and have never been flashed by anyone :-)

I'd go for 6000K every time. Got mine from http://www.hids4u.co.uk, can probably find cheaper kits but their ones are very high quality.

ye, he was only just starting out and trading on here when i got mine, he couldnt keep up with demand at first . as for full beam just use some powerful bulbs, but chances are as 4300k is the brightest you wont find much use for full beam.

Tris: Dont the power looks have a little tab/switch that adjusts them from LHD to RHD (if there the ones I'm thinking of)

Tris: yes they are Fk powerlooks indeed  ! where abouts are the knobs to adjust the beam down ? are they on the lights its self lol ? or do you mean the thing inside the car that adjusts them ? I really have no cluee haha ..... I've decided to go for the ones on this link http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-hids4u-proplus-...p-1-pr-3.htmlm..

How easy are they to fit ? do i need to cut any wires? or is it just a case of plug and play ?

link may not work but they are the : H7 HIDS4U ProPlus HID Xenon Conversion E4 Certified Ballasts.. thats the ones I'm going to go for :D

Some do, but not FK Powerlooks for the 6N. I believe some Passat versions do though etc

There are some white knob things on the back of my headlights, you'll see what I mean when you get them. They have rendered the standard adjusting switch on my dashboard useless though, it does nothing now :-(

That's the same kit I have 8-)

plug and play..... dead easy

i took my bumper off though when i fitted mine so i could locate the ballast in the bupmper iron as they ballasts fit in there perfectly and i didnt have to find space for the mounting bracket they come with. just meant nothing was on show

:D

i just swap my lights back over come mot time.... only reason is the fks are LHD, altho my tester who i know well said i shouldnt have bothered with the hassle just stuck some of those beam bending stickers on to pass.....maybe worth just nippin to the garage you intend to MOT it at and see what they say, could save you the hassle of swapping lights unnecessarily. i just let my hids unplugged and ran standard bulbs in standard ligths for MOT time!

I kept mine fitted to the standard mk3s light for the MOT, didnt mention they were there and it passed with a perfect beam.

Ta mate, yeah it's a 16v :-)

I would hold on to your original headlights just in case you need them at MOT time etc

The HIDs shouldn't fail it but the fact the headlights are LHD might.
