70mpg is impossible

Face Palm alert.

The polo on top gear managed nearer 80mpg. It was 800 miles on ten gallon tank (plus reserve).

I'm not big on this whole thing, but why is it not possible though? I don't really believe anyone about this but at least MikeyMK made his points why it is possible clear for the sake of the argument, you just say its impossible and thats that.

600 miles at least, i have driven various standard mk3 polos, and the best i have ever got off my vague readings is 350 miles to a tank

Filled my car to the brim today, probably cost me like 60p extra, meh.

Anyway what i found strange was, am getting better fuel consumption since i've had my full stainless and induction kit fitted

For example i would usually get around 320 miles out of my 1.4 before the light came on, but i somehow got 350 before it came on this time! and its not as if am driving like like a granny since i've had them mods

eh am not complaining!

You honestly thought that? Also, if a bullet went through a car it probably wouldn't penetrate your skin as well if it hit you. Depending, of course, what sort of firearm was used.

Did you know that high velocity rounds cant travel through water.

saw the pumps at one of the supermarket petrol stations being cleaned out this morning due to contamination, petrol in the diesel and vice versa.

so a lot of wasted fuel there.

Anydmk4: Car manufacturers are in on the game, cars come out from the factory highly compensating for performance, economy etc... bu while society tries to discourage us from modifying our cars, mods like indction kit and better flow exhaust mean that your getting a more efficient combustion hence using less fuel, after fitting an HP Turbo, forge dump valve, high flow exhaust, induction kit and stage3 ECU to mum's Saab 9000 fuel economy was brilliant on long drives. No one expects a car driven by a 50year old woman to go whoooosh!!!

Umm.. yeah I honestly did, and I bet I'm not the only one who thought that. But what's it got to do with my skin? Not that I'm planning on doing it any time soon, but if I was going to shoot my fuel tank to see what happens.. I wouldn't plan on being anywhere near it!

Yeh I did know that, but I didn't know that bullets don't make a spark on impact with metal. If a bullet sparked as it entered the tank, as fuel vapour was released then it's not un-reasonable to think it would explode.. I found that link interesting more than anything because it explained that bullets don't actually create a spark, which I never knew.

Most of it goes into the pockets of people who can't be arsed to work or would rather have so many kids that its more financially viable to be unemployed and on benefits than working. I think we need some tough love really. It should be illegal to have more kids if your using the states money to live. Why bring another life into the world if you can't afford to keep what you've got going?

My Mum was made redundant back in March and obviously started getting job seekers allowance etc.

When my Mum finally got offered a job about a month ago she got a phone call from the Job Centre.

They basically said to her "Don't except any job yet, book an interview with our financial expert to see if your not better off on benefits"

My mum obviously said she wanted to work but how many people out there have been told this and just stayed on benefits. Using all our tax money so they can live because the government said they are better off that way.

Most petrol stations are owned as independent franchises, not directly by the oil company.

Hence they have some freedom in setting their own prices.

6p/lit difference in petrol stations less than 8mi apart in MK, both "shell"

In a Taunton down a road there are two stations within few hundred yards of each other and the prices differ by 2-3p.

Generally in larger areas where there are lots of petrol stations the prices will be lower as there is more competition but in rural/remote areas where there are few stations the prices will be far higher just because they can charge that and if you need petrol you will no choice but to go to them.
