Ok so this has happened to me twice now I've bought new panels same paint code etc but when I put them on thief slightly dull compared to the rest of my car like it's a slightly different colour! How could I remedy this without paint? If I can't do anything they will get painted but I need possible cheap remedies? Buffer? Clay bar? Tcut??? Cheers guys

every car will /may be a slightly differant shade so you have to settle for near enough

polish the whole side of the car with a decent polish...autoglym super resin should be ok , keep at it until they're all the same gloss

theres different variants of each colour, it might be the same paint code but there may be 2,3,4 etc. shades of the same colour.

So how come when I order paint I just order lk7y? Is there anyways of finding the variants? Or is it just a batch thing???

dont forget you need to factor in that colours fade from being exposed to the sun. I have a flash red car :-S dreading trying to match up colours lol

It depends on how it was applied, and how it's been treated since been sprayed.

Never use t-cut, it's a bag of shite.

Use some of the meguiars compound stuff to get the paint back upto scratch

Ok so I have meguires polish an auto glum paint renovator ATM! I'll try that but I'm also borrowing my mates buffer to see how that does. If not I'll try a compound, this happened to anyone else? What results did you get

if all else fails I don't mind getting a wing painted but I'll try it first!

Would this be the same with metallic paints aswell or less obvious than glosses?

I can't imagine metallics 'fading' as much, if at all.. and i need a few panels for mine which might need to be sprayed up new as i can;t find any anywhere (LC3K Canyon Red Metallic).

Or will it still be as awkward to get an exact match?

Metallic paints usually need blending in, more so on lighter colours than silver. You wouldn't just be able to spray a door for example. The wing and rear 1/4 would need blending in.

so would i just be better off buying 2nd hand panels that are a different shade but won't need any spraying (in terms of cost?) it's my bonnet, front bumper and grill surround all need replacing

well I've got storm grey 6n which is metalicy and have replaced the front bumper and grill suround (same colour) the boot lid (same colour) drivers door (different colour) and passenger wing! (different colour) so that's 4 matches 2 none so its worked out at about 66% of the time I got a match, but yeah laquer can fade apparently! All I can say is if you can get em in same paint colour do it N try all these see if anything works for u n they don't look half as bad as blue ones or whatever would on the run up to painting if they need it!

well, i think i might just chance it anyway. i reckon i'll be ok with a bonnet cos of the right angle with the front wings and light hitting the panels at different angles, it should be much less noticeable than a door shouldn't it?

the bigger problem would be the ends of the bumper against the fronts of the wings.. but that's not much either.

You may notice a difference on the bonny and top of wings but you are right it's nowhere near as noticable as a door! Hahah you can usually get away with bumpers coz of thier shape and coz there low down! But yea id chance it if it's gonna make you car more solid? I had a rotten wing and drivers door but it's all cool now just different so I'll try to buff I back

ok so I've used meguires deep crystal polish and also auto glym paint renovator and the megs carnubia wax and its stayed the same colour just shinier lol I'm going to try a buffer and some resin but I'm not confident it will work also i am thinkin if i get it painted how should i prep it? i have a small dent aswell so how would i fill it? cheers

ok so i have been thinking that my old wing that was perfect colour wise and dent wise but the bracket that attaches the wing to the bumper was rotten so thats y i changed, so could i cut the good bracket off the diff colour wing and use it on the original wing? what do you guys reckon???

Cut the good and bad backers off and used the good one on the good wong job done 45 mind tops job done! Well chuffed!!!

just leave it for a while till you can afford and get the whole car blown over it will cost a bit but not 2 much. ill ask my m8 if you want but it will take a while to dry

I will be getting a proper job done sooner or later but for now I've pikey repaired it lol it all good now but now I've noticed a bit of rust bubbling thru so that's on the to do list but I've recently had confirmation for the car repairs! To the rear bumper so that the next thing on the 16th happening then I'll use it for the weekend n then it's finally in for rust busting on the rear (rang up insurance to tell them I'm having some repair work done to it but prepping it myself and that I wouldn't be able to replicate the crease under the rear lights and they said it's fine (they don't allow any mods to the car) I am not doing it to make it look sportier or better or anything and it doesn't affect performance!!!)

We all know it gives at least 25bhp! Haha

Oh yeah and it was me flashing at u and beeping the other day on skipton road mate! Haha took the 6n out to charge it up abit!
