Well i thought id start putting my progress on the car up on here

I got the car 3 months back and have just started kicking things off.

It's my first project so nothing too exciting will happen to the engine but I've got some ideas for the body work and interior.

so far I've started dismantling the engine bay, tagging and bagging all the bits I've taken off and taking photos of where everything was. Theres only slight surface rust on some areas of the car and its all been easy getting it off. One problem we've found is that one of the front pillars was full of filler. We removed the filler and theres a chunk of metal missing...good times. I've got my wheels, 15" teledials, and i've had the adapters made 25mm. Just put the one wheel on to see what it'll look like and its preettyy wide. I'll get the other 3 made in the next few weeks.

Next thing on the list is to get the engine out and suspension sorted to get the car sitting where i want it. From there i'll get the body work on the go and the paint.

I'll keep updateing with the progress. :-D

Got the engine out, cleaned up the bay, just gotta get the last of the wax off.

Suspensions going on this weekend. 70/60 shocks and springs, supplied by philj (damn good service)

Should have it off to a bodyshop soon for the arches cut and other mods doing to it. When i say soon i mean a while :]

Still working on my polo! haven't forgotten about it :]

And the wheels.

They've been cleaned up since, not refurbed yet.

If the cars gonna be alphine white, what do you reckon about the wheels? Black? Polished? Green?

nice progress on the polo, how thick are your spacers/adapters??

Started on the polo again. First decent weekend we've had in a while ..plus i've picked up another project that needs/expects more time...I'll give you one guess to what it is :)

NOthing really happened over the winter except I've got all the bolts and adpaters sorted and zinked.

Cars got the engine back in now, all wheels are on and i can now see whats what regards the arches.

The front wheels sticking out a fair bit and the backs are just about right.....the polos almost a wedge shape :/ wider at the back than the front.

I tryed putting the rado seats in the back but the bases just looked like bananas so we've sightly modified the back of the rear seats to fit with the polo bases and it looks alright =]

Tell us what you think of the front wheel, id like to get some opinions on it. Arches are going to have to be put on what ever happens...i dont think flaring will be enough

It's only taken 2 years to get to the point where this weekend, the engine should turn over! I use the word "should" very loosely.

Everythings back in. Fresh link of paint here and there. Yes that is the standard manifold, it will be changed in due course after I get rid of the golf.......anyone want a golf?

Teledials were going to cost me too much so the Slots will be making an apperance. Mirror polished, green P's..noice.

Body works still in need of work. Tried fiber glassing over the number plate recess....LOL FAIL. I slammed the boot "crraaack......thud" AH! lol. The welders coming out soon!

Mk3's dont look skimpy on P-sluts mate..

i ran some on my mk3 and a mk2 (only have a pic of them on mk2) but i think they look thick with a good drop

It isn't so much the sluts themselves looking skimpy, its the rubber on them! I don't want the tires to look too skinny! What size are the tires on those in your photo?

Only got the bloody thing running after 2 years! Turned it over for the first time and it started up

Just waiting on seals for the calipers, then a brake bleed and then it's off for MOT and new exhaust system! and tyres....and body work....and paint...and wheel Refurb

So I've trialed out a wheel refurb company near me. £30 a wheel, powder coat. Chemically treated and this is the result....Not Bad!

Finishing touches to the polo...

Fixed the rear corrado seats in place, they're in pretty solid now so i'm pretty happy. They obviously don't fit in line perfectly with the original mk3 bench but it's not bad. I plan to get everything re-upholstered so it should look better then.

Pop-lock's in but the solenoids f*cked. Thought the fuse may have blown but we're still getting power to the solenoid, just no movement.

Had a stab at filling in the hole in the window pillar. Looked alright but over the winter, the fillers cracked. The metal expanding and contracting has obviously lead to this but how can you stop it from cracking? any tips?

Tires are now on the slots and on the car.

Acquired a welder to weld up the rear number plate recess, need to get some sheet metal for it first though. Had a go with using fiberglass....stupid idea that was!

Apart from that, the engine starts up first time every time, even when stood for a few weeks.

MOT is the next thing really on the list and then she should be good to go!
